Spectacles still not found.  My last prescription used the same frames so I am back at my prescription glasses from a decade ago or more!  At least I have an excuse for my typos!

Folks, that was the first of these reality shows I have ever seen. I may tune in for the New York one, since I am somewhat familiar with one of the contestants. When is next week's show?

A Retreat In Pomona - that's the title of my next novel.  I'm enjoying Operation Crossbow - I should have finished it a half-hour ago, but I fell asleep and then had to go back and catch up.

Since the NY auditions are only on next week's show we do not know how anyone who auditioned in NY did.

Also, for LA and Chicago we know which people moved forward to the Grease academy. But we don't know yet who will be on the shows where the public votes.

I am curious about one thing.  I thought they were trying to find unknowns. Are people who have done broadway before or tours allowed to be chosen?  It would seem to me that someone who has starred as millie would have so much more experience than some of the people i saw tonight.

I'm curious who those who watched liked.

I don't mind the american idol format (showing some bad singers and some totally not right for the part). But I wish we could see everybody chosen to go to the academy.  I prefer to see more of the really good people.

There were actually a bunch i liked and one i could not stand (the 40+ danny who has played the part before). I don't mind them giving a 17 yr sandy a chance. Because even though she will not win she is a good singer and this will give her lots of experience. But they will never choose hte 40 yr old. I really did not like him and cannot see him in this role at all (playing a 17 yr old???).

There were a few sandys i really liked.  The brunette whose dad told her to audition.  THere was also one dirty blonde who they featured a lot who went through to the next round.

In more sobering news...

The major free weekly paper in Richmond, VA., Style Weekly, announced their Richmonders of the Year for 2006: The Harvey Family.  I mentioned the horrible events here on HHW when they occurred a year ago, and I believe some other Hainsies and Kimlets were familiar with the family, the story.

I just did a quick read of the story, and I believe the editors at Style Weekly did a wonderful, thoughtful, thought-provoking and honorable job.  If anyone else is interested in reading the story, just click on the Cover Story link on Style Weekly's homepage.

Now time to read it again.

**11:45pm EST - I just re-read the article.  It is indeed very sobering... a bit unsettling.  So, if you are interested in reading it, you may want to consider reading it later, just in case... :-\

I finished up the LARA CROFT II film, and then I watched some of the special features on the disc including discussions of the stunts and Gerard Butler's screen test.

I did enjoy the film much more than the first one.
