Topic of the Day: I've seen a HORRIBLE production of Little Shop of Horrors, but it was the production that was bad, not the show itself. As for the actors coping, I don't think that most of them had a clew...I know the director didn't.

There was this show at the Alex Theater in Glendale, CA, called Fashion, supposedly about a group of ladies putting on a play, that was absolutly dreadful. I fell asleep. Der Brucer fell asleep. We left at intermission.

And, for some strange reason, they actually put out an Original Cast Album of the thing.

Der B and I passed on getting the album. We're not total masochists.

Hmm, the Rex Smith picture showed up in yesterday's posts but Jose's family pictures and Jed and Ann's wedding pictures did not show up. They were just replaced by a little red X. Oh, well.

I saw a production of Hay Fever years ago that seend to totally miss the "Delivery" aspect of Coward's dialogue. (it was non professional).

I also saw a "star" production of "Private Lives" which tried too hard!

Good morning, all! No, DR SWW, I do not have an oatmeal bowl. I once had a beautiful bowl I used for cereal that I brought from Ohio when I moved. It was in my family for years; I remember my dad using it in the early 1950s. About 5 years ago I dropped it and it shattered into a lot of pieces. I've been trying to replace it ever since.

DRs Ann and Jed, I miss you both enormously! Please come back to the site ASAP!

Today, I see the barber first thing, then I need to hit Toyland for a bit and actually pack up some things. Then the NYPL, and after that, my trek to the orthopedist that I thought was yesterday.

I see that TLA Video has announced the DVD release date for HOT FUZZ as 7/31/07, but I cannot tell if it's a 2-DVD set. The Region-2 DVD of HOT FUZZ is a 2-DVD set and the release date is 6/11/07. Next week! Goodie.

My nephew worked a total of two days in a row and "needs a day off" so I have to work today, which messes up MY schedule..... Two days in a row...15 hours....slave labor, obviously.

Oh well....I sell tickets tomorrow afternoon for Cinderella.....the day the picture appears in the local paper, so I expect to hear lots of telephones ringing.

DR DANISE - a ringing telephone with no one there is not unusual at this time.

Another chance to mention the wonders of "Woman in White". A story that cried out NOT to be musicalised. The audience "buzz" (I think it was in the first week that we saw it) was missing totally. "The Beautiful Game" had more emotional impact - despite Ben Elton's lyrics.

A production of Don DeLillo's THE DAY ROOM that was so awful the whole town of Indy was talking about it, people were going to see it because it gave a new definition to the word bad. And the cast thought it was great and that "any publicity" that sold tickets was good. I was directing the next show at the theatre, so I went....I wish I hadn't.

A mis-directed production THE LISBON TRAVIATA....

When we saw "Seussical" in New York - the audience just did not seem to be with the show. (We loved it). Cathy Rigby just seemed to work harder and harder to bring the audience "in".
