As for the Word of the Day, I have to say that growing up in the South, I was often in awe at dinner table chit-chat.

It's an "art", and I'm certain that the word "deipnosophist" is intended to be descriptive of one who is a master of the art.

There are, however, would be-deipnosophists who could draw a breath every once in a while and let someone else say something.

I, of course, longed to particpate in some of the chit-chat, but I was raised by folks who insisted children are to be seen and not heard.

I learned, then, the art of listening. I guess all deipnosophists need an audience, after all.

Still, I wish I had been nurtured as a "conversationalist".

TOD - I grew up with a jerk for a step-father, and without going into detail, he wasn't very nice to myself or my brother. I haven't seen him in over 14 years, my mom divorced him a little over 13 years ago. Anyhow, about once a month I have a dream about him. It's nothing scary or anything, he just becomes a figure in one of my dreams. I also have dreams about falling, and about being naked in public, which never really bugged me... go figure.

Still no word on the package! I had a message early this morning saying they didn't know what was going on and to call if I had any questions. Brilliant! I called the NY number they gave me yesterday and got a woman on the phone and she's checking with the station - she said she'd get back to me in fifteen minutes. That was sixteen minutes ago. I shall now begin calling other people.
