It ended being righteously indignant at the city council meeting.  HWHC occasionally works with city depts so can't say what he really thinks about some things....but I can.  It's about a really cool 1887 house being torn down to build a garden.  Anyway, he made his point diplomatically for the group we represent ...  then I was able to follow up  by disclosing what I knew about a questionable process used by the city workers.   I was so much fun!!! I didn't accuse anyone of anything, because my info was all second hand, but I did say i was worried about the process.

I knew we couldnt' save the house, but the city manager said he wouldn't do any more negotiating without including our group

On the way out HWHC and another member of our board thanked me. We were all joking and having a good time.  As we drove off, HWHC and I were side by side at a stop light on a one way.  Me in my Prius he in his big GMC Sienna truck with some really long boards sticking out the back.   I gave him the let's race look and he sped off past me....and all the boards flew out of his truck onto road.  I almost fell out of the car laughing.  I stopped and stood guard til he could get around the corner.  We just stood in the street laughing.  I realize you had to be there, but oh man it was funny

My first client today got prison when we thought he'd get probation, not so good, but the day got better from there.  It was a stand up against authority and for the little guy kind of day and for most of the day, it worked out well for me.  Gotta love it

Vivian Sobchack, who is now the head of the UCLA Film Department, was a professor at the University of Utah when I was there.   I took her Film Theory class and she opened the first day by having us write an essay about our favorite film.  I still remember getting my essay back with a big:  WOW!!  CORRECT USE OF A SEMICOLON!!! scrawled across the top.  Years later I wrote Vivian when my Farmer article was published, but she claimed (claimed, I tells ya) not to remember me.  ;)

Speaking of my Farmer article, there's some semi-literate (or at least non-native English speaker) questioning my research over on Wikipedia.  What else is new?  :)

Edith was sick today. I think it's the first time she has called in sick in the 2 1/2 years she's worked for me. She said she was dizzy and sick to her stomach, makes me wonder if I had a bug last week instead of something I ate
