Lots of E N E R G Y for sure......or as Eulalie McKechnie Shinn would say....movement!

And Ellen Harvey was a EUK understudy in The Music Man revival!

I love Ellen; she did STRIKE UP THE BAND with me in LA in 1989 or so.

Do we see an play acting awards sweep developing here?

Why do people love this play so much?  I remember it when it was written, and it seemed pretty much off the mark to me.

Why do people love this play so much?  I remember it when it was written, and it seemed pretty much off the mark to me.

It caught the zeitgeist of the plague and its effects on New York better than any other play written at the time, from the dilemma of what was causing the disease to the politics of the Koch and Regan failures and the futility of everyone with friends dying to save them or do much to help.

Jrand, I see that the Harbor Lights Theatre on Staten Island is opening THE MUSIC MAN in July.  Have they contacted you yet for Mayor Shinn?

If you say so.

Well, DR JRand60, have you lost over 100 friends and acquaintances to AIDS between 1981 and 1991? I have. There was a time when the Gay Men's Chorus sang a memorial service nearly every weekend, sometimes for a Chorus member, sometimes for a financial supporter of the Chorus, sometimes for a friend.

I'm not bragging. But those of us who lived through it must tell the tale so the victims are not forgotten.

I don't have ice cream, but I have a lot of cheese.  Cheddar with horseradish (in it not on it).  Muenster- a 5# block (it was cheap)  some Justo Italiano and cheddar with chiplotle.   Cheese curds.....lets see.  Cashew crunch and Maple spread. (not cheese, but I got it in Wisconsin.  We also stopped at a bakery on an Amish family's farm and got fresh donuts.  YUM!

I liked AS IS better.

I liked William Hoffman's play, buit lacked the anger and fire in THE NORMAL HEART; Concetta Tomei's big scene as the doctor (Ellen Barkin in the revival), spinning her wheelchair in frustration and throwing the medical records of her deceased patients away in futility is one of the greatest and most moving things I've seen in thirty years.
