The original French title was "D'Entre Les Morts" which translates to Between Deaths.

Pierre Boileau also wrote "Celle qui n'était plus" which was made into the classic film Diabolique

Those two books are really rare and very pricey - I was lucky on both and got them literally for almost peanuts. The Vertigo book sells for no less than 5,000 bucks and the Diabolique for anywhere from 4,000 to 6,000. Pretty amazing. To say I got them for less than 5% of those prices would be correct - much less.

I won't complain about our heat wave. Actually I wouldn't complain anyway as I like it warm even though I'm sitting in the cool air conditioned house.

Greetings from Day #2 of the Taste of Tacoma. Well, of course, I am not actually at the Taste, but I can smell all the food, hear all of the bands, and see all of the people. I just happen to be about 100 yards from the actual event. Still the crowds are huge this year, probably due to the hot weather (86 degrees?).

Saturday late afternoon greetings! We were at McCormick Place by 9am and had a full day crawling the exhibit hall. I went to 2 sessions, both author programs. The first was the author of THE ENCORE CAREER HANDBOOK and the second was a panel of 4 authors, including Josh Hanagarne, THE WORLD'S STRONGEST LIBRARIAN. My AAUW friend Cindy, who lives here in Chicagoland, joined us and it was fun to show off ALA to a non-librarian.

For newer DR's who might not know why I would be at a gathering of librarians.......
A long time ago Keith was a librarian at Cal Tech in Pasadena. After Bryan was born he found a job working for a publishing company selling books to librarians.

While at Cal Tech he started a rare book library that we have been told still exists today.

There's still a lot of stuff to be had, DR Jane, but I'm pretty careful about what I pick up. I did get a free copy of the encore career book and had it autographed and some cool postcards from Lonely Planet travel books that I'm going to have framed.
