I will be heading out to Long Island today after work.

We will be there for the weekend.

It's supposed to be hot and muggy most of the time. I plan on spending as much of it inside as I can. I wish Anthony's parents still had their pool. Oh, well. I'll live.

Took delivery of a Blu-ray import today (US to UK) and got caught for Customs charges, which seems to happen more frequently nowadays. Charges are based not just on the cost of the item but also on the amount of international postage. International postal charges from the US are high enough but having a Customs charge of about $18 on top of everything else makes it prohibitively expensive to import many DVDs/CDs etc from the US to the UK.

Good morning, all! I stayed up way too late last night reading and so I slept in. I have absolutely no plans today until 6:30pm, when I meet goddaughter Charlotte to see the new film of Much Ado About Nothing.

That London skyline photo is incredible, DR SingSing, but it got promptly overshadowed by DR Doug R's horror story about the customs charges. HOLY MOLEY. What a difference, right there, between what we can get away with on either side of the water. From what I hear, Canadians are also hit with charges for buying from the US that can only be described as punitive.

Shocking information from DR DOUG R. I have only been caught in the web once....had to pay a lot of $$ for something that came from somewhere.....I don't even remember the details. I don't bid on or buy items for myself from outside the U.S. Now and then I get rings or jewelry for the store from China....it takes a LONG time to arrive, but there are usually no extra charges on them.
