Larry got a very nice notice by Peter Filichia in his column today

thanks for the review of Sandy's show, ChasSmith. Sounds like it was a lot of fun even if the drive to and from the city was anything but.

When I lived in upstate and would drive ino the city, I had better luck than not. But the not times were really stupendously hellish.

Good morning, all.

Great movie comments in the notes today. Top favorites, all of those. I haven't seen PEEPING TOM in years and years, but I've had the UK Blu-ray sitting right here for at least a year, so there's no excuse for that. I'm putting it in the to-watch stack, and I'll have the Criterion EYES WITHOUT A FACE soon. Loved their DVD, but can't wait to see the high-def. This stuff is pure gold, and boy do we live in a fine few years for film collecting.

EDIT: Also have the Arrow Blu-rays of BLACK SUNDAY and BLACK SABBATH, which are a godsend. SABBATH is fun, to be sure, and I love horror anthology films (Amicus, etc.) , but it's not the singular masterpiece that is BLACK SUNDAY. No sirree.

SIMPLY - first listen was in the car last night, which was wonderful but it's time for The Big Speakers.
DEAREST ENEMY - second listen on same, whilst devouring the rest of those above-mentioned notes.

I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE - enjoying this, and will enjoy subbing for that one performance. Nice BK/Varese CD, too, but I don't remember what BK said about it in the memoirs so I need to look that up.

For movies, I've been enjoying a hankering for some slightly offbeat horror or semi-horror favorites:

Good morning, all! I got hell from the therapists yesterday for sitting too long at the computer since I and they believe that the mucle pain in my right kidney region is may be caused by poor sitting at the computer for long periods. They told me to break frequently and to walk around the apartment before getting back to the keyboard. Because of this pulled muscle, I took a Tylenol with Codeine and a Flexerill last night and I slept. And slept. I am now bathed, dressed and on culpa coffee no. 1.

After reading DR ChasSmith's rave for Sandy, I am really sorry that I missed it last night, but I am happy that he didn't end up the only one there. Then the news of Peter's comment was the icing on the cake. I'm expecting another pan from Steve Suskin for the recording, since anything quasi-operetta is anathema to him.

Today, I must seriously contemplate laundry, although I would prefer to procrastinate. I'll see how much there is and make my determination from that. I may break it down to "really important" and "not so" before it's over.

I suspect Peter feels the tempos on the DEAREST ENEMY TV soundtrack are the correct ones. We'll see what others think.

My only problems with the tempos are that I wanted "I Beg Your Pardon" and "Old Enough To Love" slower to allow them to play with the words more, and I wanted the beginning of the Act Two Finale up to Betsy's entrance with the lantern to be slower to give a feeling of passing time and the house going to sleep.

Back at work today after taking a sick day. I awakened in the wee hours of Thursday morning with a throbbing headache for which I took Bayer aspirin. A couple of hours later, I got up and had a glass of cold water. When dawn broke, I knew the worst of it...it was a light-sensitive headache, would only go away in time and that I'd not be going in to work.

Headache broke around 11 a.m. Light sensitivity remains even today, but it's not gosh-awful, so.

Not seeking pity. Just 'splainin' why I wasn't 'round these here parts yesterday!
