Sunday morning greetings!  My 3 housemates have gone to church, but I elected to stay home for some solitude.

And to all the Black Friday, Cyber Monday, buy, buy, buy hype that's flooding my email and our newspaper lately.

Aluminum Christmas trees are a real thing?  OMG!  I thought that was just a construct from the original Peanuts television special!

Because I had to take my Father off the checking account, there is a hold on all transactions.....so our Social Security, Pension checks, and deposits are all put in....then taken back out....and then credited again in a day or two.

It is most irritating, and hopefully it will be done soon.  One lady said 60 days, another one told me 8 to 10 weeks.....so I just have to keep watching.

Maybe you should have just opened a new account and transferred most of the money first.  I am surprised the money has to be held.  This is a joint account, right?

Oy!  Get ready for this one:

My main dream had to do with DR Elmore having just supplied the 16 or 32 bar insert of The Nutcracker that some of us, along with other members of the audience, had been permitted to join in dancing during last year's production.  The music I think was playing in my head was the Grandfather's Dance.  Then there was a rehearsal with all the kids, most of whom, fortunately, had already performed the piece.  I'm not sure what I was doing in any of this.  But it all ended with me suggesting to one of the women who was wearing a long fleece blue bathrobe similar to mine that she and I and the other woman also wearing one get together in the middle of the crowd so everyone would notice that and get a big kick out of it.

Take off the fez; put on my crown. You win!

Since today's the first Sunday of Advent, here's the opening section of my "Appalachian Carols for My Father," which I wrote for the Chamber Choir of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus around 1984.  In twenty years as their staff arranger, I wrote a lot of pieces, some for special occasion, some revisons of things I'd written earlier for them, and maybe at most ten arrangements or compositions that I am really proud of.  Sadly, most of those 10 were never commercially recorded and sit in limbo.  the Appalachian Carols is one of them.  this is an archival tape of the piece's first performance at Carnegie Hall, conducted by Dean X. Johnson.  After 30 years, it still bothers me that he had the Chamber Choir sing the piece with southern accents. Dean was a talented man and a dear friend who died far too young.

I'm up, I'm up - obviously something in the sauce on the steak was a little too rich, so my tummy didn't feel so hot - no big problems, but just woke up a few times, then fell back asleep.  I didn't actually fall asleep until three - I think I got eight hours, maybe seven.
