Well, you've read the notes, the notes were merry and written in December, and now it is time for you to post until the merry December cows come home.

Enjoying the Jacqueline Lawson Advent Calendar on my computer. This year's theme is "Victorian Christmas." I highly recommend it if you like that sort of thing.

It certainly FEELS like December.  Brrrr.  I heard it was supposed to warm up here toward the middle of the week.  I'm ready for it.

I won nothing on the two scratch off tickets I purchased, but I did fill up my car (about a quarter tank down) for only $9.75.

DR TCB's story about his repairman reminded me of a story I heard many years ago, and many times since....but I will update it for HHW today.

A man was excited to finally get to see HAMILTON on Broadway.  He had waited many months for his ticket. He was there on a Wednesday matinee.

He took his seat next to a lovely woman.  As he looked around, he noticed that the seat on the other side of the woman was empty.  He kept waiting for someone to come in to take it.  The show started, and he was irritated that someone would come in during the first act.  No one did.

During the intermission, he asked the woman if she knew who the seat belonged to.  "Yes," she replied. "I bought the tickets many weeks ago, it belongs to my husband, but he passed away."

The man said: "Oh, I'm sorry.  But didn't he have a friend or relative that could have used the ticket?"

The woman answered: "No....no....they're all at his funeral."

TOD:
I don't know that I've seen very many films based on true events. But I did see "Fargo" and loved it, so I've been watching the TV series and love that too. I really needed to go to bed early last night, but I started watching it and was just riveted. It's amazing to think this stuff really happened. I only just noticed last night that the show is 90 minutes long every week and the last episode is next week. I wonder why they didn't keep it to 60 minutes so they could drag it out a bit longer.

It's time to update parody lyrics for HAMILTON also, then, isn't it?

Tune of “Star” (2015-16 Broadway HAMILTON version)

If the fellow’s cheered as the reason
That the tuner’s changing for good
If he wrote the smash of the season
And he’s crowned the god of the ‘hood
If the rhyming is rather close but no cigar
The chances are:  The fellow’s a star

If the scalpers find themselves falling
For the daring work in his play
If the President comes a-calling
For some seats in center row K
If the seats that we can afford are rather far
The chances are:  The fellow’s a star

If the sense of drama in his using hip-hop
Is utterly tip-top, per John Lahr
If his sound is something all the press is chasing
Something boomers are embracing
Something we can groove to in our car
He’s a genuine, wonderful, lyrical, magical
Perfectly bankable star!

The odd thing about a show being a sell-out in this era is that in the old days when you "couldn't get seats," you really couldn't get seats.    But with Ticketmaster having their widely-used resale feature, this past holiday weekend even, anyone who was willing to part with $325 could get row M and N in the orchestra even for HAMILTON as the resale price dropped a day or two before the show.  (for example, on Friday afternoon for a Saturday show).  No ticket is unattainable, if someone's willing to pay twice the regular price, it seems, even HAMILTON.

Even if the price is outrages, the resale option is nice.
