Updating old jokes, Jack? :)

It's time to update parody lyrics for HAMILTON also, then, isn't it?

Tune of “Star” (2015-16 Broadway HAMILTON version)

If the fellow’s cheered as the reason
That the tuner’s changing for good
If he wrote the smash of the season
And he’s crowned the god of the ‘hood
If the rhyming is rather close but no cigar
The chances are:  The fellow’s a star

If the scalpers find themselves falling
For the daring work in his play
If the President comes a-calling
For some seats in center row K
If the seats that we can afford are rather far
The chances are:  The fellow’s a star

If the sense of drama in his using hip-hop
Is utterly tip-top, per John Lahr
If his sound is something all the press is chasing
Something boomers are embracing
Something we can groove to in our car
He’s a genuine, wonderful, lyrical, magical
Perfectly bankable star!

That's great, Fred!

TOD:  Quiz Show, Apollo 13, and Iron-Jawed Angels

I've seen Quiz Show and Apollo 13.  I'll add them to my list, which will also include (found by searching "Based On True Story" keywords in IMDb):

Argo and Fargo (hey, I'm a poet and didn't know it ;D )
The Blind Side
Calendar Girls
Catch Me If You Can
Chicago
Dallas Buyers Club
Enemy at the Gates
Erin Brockovich
Julie & Julia
The King's Speech
Kinky Boots
A League of Their Own
Love & Mercy
Newsies
Party Monster
Six Degrees of Separation
Soldier's Girl
Summer of Sam

And I'll stop here.

I'm tired.  Rehearsal begins in about thirty minutes and we should be done at five-thirty at which point I'll finally go eat something - I'm thinking chicken soup and something else.  I did pick up two packages, but other packages had to be there but weren't sorted.  I did get a lovely early birthday present from Fred and Skip.

Amazon has been so screwy lately.  A package that was supposed to arrive yesterday, according to their tracking, hadn't - in fact, no shipper service was noted.  I called them and they credited me the purchase and said another one would be sent.  So, today what do I find?  It HAD arrived yesterday.  Today there's another package supposedly going to be delivered via UPS - UPS had already made its delivery and they hadn't sorted through, but according to Amazon it hasn't arrived yet and according to UPS it hasn't arrived yet, but there's no action on the task bar since it was actually sent.

On Saturday, Amazon sent me two emails apologizing for shipping delays on two items I had already received several days before!

The other day - was it yesterday? - bk asked what freaked us out as kids.

Well, we never had one of these when I was growing up. But even today, as an adult, THIS makes me very uncomfortable:

I don't know why, exactly. It just does.

Listening to bk sing "Penny by Penny."

What a wonderful recording. The vocal is divine, and those lush DR elmore3003 orchestrations make me swoon!

This may be old news, but just in case - here's Joel Grey's tongue-in-cheek response to the funny Leslie Odom jr. story about Mr. Grey at HAMILTON:

I will have to watch this later.

Thanks. :)

DR TCB when you asked me abut I-705 I was a bit confused.  I believe you would have taken it to I-5 and continued on 5, unless you meant I-205.

bk didn't sing Penny by Penny nor did Guy Haines - that gorgeous vocal belongs to Sal Viviano.

Well, I must be going.  Tonight, Theater Artists Olympia is having a movie night!  I don't know specifically what's playing, but it'll be a horror movie!

Be back later.

Went to the library today. They didn't have the movie I wanted, so I looked around and found something called Testament of Youth with BK's new favorite, Alicia Vikander. I grabbed it. Hope I have time to watch it before the competition.

The library has done something strange. They have changed their rules. You used to be able to check out a DVD for a week. Now you can get it for three weeks.

I don't know that I like the change. It means I have to wait much longer for more popular titles. Essentially a month if a person keeps a movie for the whole three weeks.
