Saturday morning greetings!  We had frozen fog here in SW Ohio overnight.  How do I know that?  Well, I was up looking out the windows at 4:30am because I'd been awake since 3.  Finally settled down in my Momcave recliner and listened to some Bryn Terfel and went back to sleep until Rob came in from work about 9.

BBAC is a favorite film of mine as well.  I have seen the play a couple of times, and it is a disappointment.  In one production, the Gillian was.....to put it politely.....plain.....  Nicky usually steals the show.

Richard and I have plans to go to Mom's storage locker today and retrieve some Christmas decorations for her to play with in her room.

Yes DR GINNY - the fog is finally clearing here.

Like DR DRUXY, I am annoyed, astonished, and repulsed by the PC Brigade.....and Safe Places and Trigger Warnings and all the $#)^ that goes with it.

Nicky owned this one, too.  He played it almost a little too Paul Lynde in character, but he held that in check just enough that it worked.

DR TCB, I believe you mentioned that there is one more presentation of your show? Did I hear that right?

Sadly, no, although I truly wish that there was one.

BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE was ... okay ... last night.  It's nice to see it done, and the production was very stylish, but there was a lack of chemistry between the two leads who both seemed to be phoning it in.  It's too bad, because the datedness of the book really showed through as a result.

I don't care for the film, but I really dislike the play.

I just finished this wonderful. moving chronicle of a German Jewish family, which I found intensely heartbreaking and eery.  It has a great cast of characters, from the inquisitive author to her dead relations and the various spiritualists, psychics, and historians she consults to learn about her great-great-grandmother and when the lines between historical accuracy and assumptions about a haunting mesh.

And yes, Virginia, there is a ghost.

And, even more wonderful - the heartening news about Richard Sherman.         :)

Definately!

Most of the complaints on Amazon feel the book has less to do with ghostly appearances and hauntings and more about a family chronicle. They can go back and reread The Shining. I liked it very much.

"Trigger warnings." ::) TAO had a BIG discusion when we did Neil LaBute's "In a Dark, Dark House," earlier this year.  The person who was originally cast to play the girl felt that she couldn't play the role because of issues and experiences in her life (which I certainly can respect), but then she practically demanded that we put trigger warnings on the poster to warn, or at least prepare, everyone for an experience that really wasn't set up or intended to be what she expected.

It was all for naught.  I don't think that the show was directed or even written to be the huge flashback-inducing experience that she felt it could potentially be.  And as good as it was, it also was the show that we never had more twelve people in the audience for any performance.

What'cha you gonna do?

Well, I need to get ready for work so that I can go to work so that I can finish my evaluations of my staff.

Until later.

We watched DRAFT DAY with Kevin Costner and Jennifer Gardner last night.

Even if, like me, you don't follow football, it's a very entertaining film.

Keith and I agree.

This is an example where negative comments actually encourage you to read the book ;)

I really must get out for a walk, rain or not.  I'm sure it will also be colder than yesterday.

I'm up, I'm up.  I was up at six, did a little writing, fell back asleep around eight, slept till eleven, then slept another forty-five minutes - so somewhere in there I must have gotten eight hours of sleep.

Very weird.  When I came back to the HHW site, the site brought me to the postings for a day in October - which just happened to be the day we found out about the passing of der Brucer.

I am most intrigued by the idea of the new Sherman-Kimmel ditty.

It's not a Sherman/Kimmel ditty - it's all Sherman - I just planted the seed and relentlessly watered it until he wrote it.
