Had a fun stumble-through - got through my song, although I lowered the key - but for the show it's going back to the normal key I do it in.  Then a great dinner at Ruth's Chris in Woodland Hills.  I'm very full, but not as full as I usually am.

I'm glad Alicia Vikander won the award, but the LA film critics make me want to puke - they're so predictable.  I could have, without seeing it, told you Spotlight would be their choice, and for them to choose Charlotte Rampling for a film only THEY apparently have seen, over Saorise Ronan is, well, who they are.  But the most obvious example of who these rectal cavities are is choosing some Charlie Kaufman animated thing over Inside Out.  Seriously.

I've seen that before, but it's still very funny! :D

I haven't seen that one!

Friday and Saturday were taken up with the dance competition. It went well, except I don't feel as good about my dancing as I would like. I did much better in practice. I made some really stupid mistakes on the floor and, for perhaps the first time, felt nervous about performing in public. I need to work more on being in the moment and making the most of it, I guess.

Joy and I won five first place awards in our championship dances, one second place and a second place in one of our scholarship dances. (The money was a nice win, but why my dancing was worse when the money was an issue I don't know. I guess I'm just not in it for the money.)

Congratulations.

Congrats on the wins from us, too, John G.

Me too!

Very interesting day today.  We played for Bethlehem revisited.  I had no idea what that was.   It was way cool.   They had over 300 volunteers and they literally set up Bethlehem in the basement of the church.  The crowd entered and sat in the church. We were one of the groups who played while people waited.  Then the angel and shepherds appeared and spoke.

They took people down stairs in small groups and there was a huge line of people waiting to get in.   After we played we were able to go down and see Bethlehem.  They gave you a sheckel as you entered and they had all sorts of businesses you would have seen in the market, lots of live animals and lots of people in character of the townspeople.  Then they led you into a long hallway that was darkened, there were sheep, donkeys and a mother and her baby...who was crying like crazy when we went through.  Anyway, it was a very cool experience. They do it about every 5 years.  I swear the whole town was there

So we were basically background music.  It was fun.  We stumbled a bit, but no one noticed and the audience responded very well. We play again Saturday night for the Pioneer Village.   The town we play in is a small town, but they do some really cool things

It really was.  The animals seemed to be very well behaved and the kids were having a blast staying in character.  At the beginning of the walk through Bethelehem you sign in with a quill pen.   At the end of the village, you have to give all you sheckels to the tax collector.  I can't imagine how many hours they spent putting it together, but they had lots and lots of people involved and the costumes were excellent

I did a little work for the office today.  I still have about 3 cases that have drug out this year.  Partially because my clients wanted to wait, but now I need to get them done.   I should finish at least one of them tomorrow.  Whew.

I know several adult actors who don't behave and rarely stay in character.

The photos of the angel aren't that great.  He had an amazing costume, the rest were all right, but that's the one I was thinking about

I"m not sure how they got a cow into the church basement.  It may have been fun to watch, lol

It's going to be in the 50s here all week. Not December weather. Not Christmas mood inducing weather either
