My sister and I had a fruitful (for me) trip to the outlet mall and a nice visit with Mom.  I dropped her off at their hotel and we're all regrouping to meet for dinner at the barbecue place.

Where is the "barbecue place"?

Central Avenue & McKinley, next to what used to be Lewis Drugs.  We'll go there the next time you're in town.

Is that where we met when I was in Middletown last year?

So I worked 15 hours today

I learned how to make and mix bitters while sipping on an old-fashioned.

And I have to work tomorrow just to get into a reasonable place

Then I learned how to make shrubs while sipping on a Moscow mule and a margarita.

All for the sake of education.

And for charity.

The interesting thing is that, now that I know how to make shrubs, why do I need to do that? I don't usually use them in my cocktails.

Had a lot of trouble starting the new chapter.  I just kept writing, not liking, rewriting, not liking, then I finally decided on a better way to begin it, but it's been slow going all night.  I've done ten pages, but I may just stop, unless I shower and get inspiration.  I'm also trying to decide if I should consolidate the two remaining chapters into one really long one.

Gwen Verdon seems to be the lead Jack Cole dancer in this version of Merry Widow. She's dancing a can-can, of course.

The rest of Maxim's, however, does not look like the restaurant I ate at more than 35 years ago.
