Wonderful interview/podcast!

I love how relaxed and conversational it is. Why, it's almost like noshing with DR Elmore at Artie's.      :)

Listened to some more Ned Rorem:  "Eagles" and "Air Music" on a still-sealed LP I'd picked up - probably at the Tower Annex in the Village - back in the early '90s.  Louisville Symphony.  Good stuff.

Had a very nice work session with Kerry O'Malley for the Sterling anniversary show - I made a few suggestions that everyone agreed with.  Tomorrow we add the other singer, Mary Callanan.  After that, Hilda, my lighting gal for the ALS show came by and we mapped out the stage and where the band goes and I will finally have my two aisles for entrances and exits - I wanted them last year and the year before but unfortunately our MD was too involved and doesn't understand layout and space well - this time we kept him out of it and it took exactly three minutes to figure out the layout.  I remember him coming in and seeing where the band was going to be for the LA show and thinking they'd never fit - well, I laid it out, they fit and had room for another two instruments.

I am home, slightly damp, and really exhausted.  It was a long but  very good rehearsal and we covered much of the harder vocal material.  The cast sounds great, and I like them very much.

I'm sorry to hear about Marni Nixon.  I'm so glad I got to meet  her at Bruce's show a couple of years ago.  Thanks for introducing me, DR elmore!

It reached 100 degrees in DC today for the first time in 4 years.  The heat index was 111, I think.

TCB:  Too bad you're not arriving in Las Vegas a little earlier. Barbra's concert is on the 6th.

I was just about to complain it is 80 degrees here and slightly humid.  I won't complain now.

When we saw Tarzan yesterday there was one line for two box office windows.  Normally that means two lines, one for each window, however, a woman was standing in the middle so I got behind her.

When we went into the theater she got into the snack bar line and I stood behind her while Keith gave our tickets to the door person.  The woman then realized she had not handed over her ticket, got out of line, and I graciously offered her spot in line back to her and she said "thank you".

I am leading up to something here ;D

This woman noticed there were people ordering food at a second window at the counter and began walking over to it.  I hesitated thinking we were in one big line again.  A man that had been in front of her called out and said we were all waiting in one line.  Does she return to the line, NO.  She argued with him, said it didn't work that way and proceeded to go in front of everyone to be next at the other spot.

I then left Keith in line to go get our seats.  He heard her complaining at the counter that people were rude to her about going into the other line.  What really got to me was that she seemed nice and polite.

We have our new refrigerator door and we expect the problem to be fixed.  To begin with this door fits better as well as opening and closing properly.  They should have replaced the door after the first visit with the repairman, or at least after the 3rd visit but not over a year later.

Why didn't you just get a new fridge. So bizarre!

I think I may have taken that picture with your camera, Chas.  Elmore very kindly introduced me to her as well,  and Ms. Nixon very generously pretended to be as pleased to meet me as I was to meet her
