I still have the arm covers that came with my La-z-boy, um, about 22 years ago. Kept them on for a couple of days and just couldn't deal with them. And I do think they look better without.

I don't think arm covers would be too hard to make. the problem will be finding matching fabric. (Impossible.) I'd suggest something that coordinates and add a matching pillow.
