Page Two Carpet Dance.

DR LAURA here is a photo posted by my friend Andrew who is in Las Vegas -- he says this is the saddest casino in town...the saddest carpet to be sure.

T.O.D.

Just rented WIND RIVER from Redbox.

Last night we watched an oldie: THE RACKET w/Robert Mitchum and Robert Ryan.

Holds up pretty well.

These damned HMO referrals are a pain in the ass.  The past 30 minutes have been telephone hell, and I have to postpone the epidural follow-up next Wednesday because I need another damed referral, which could take up to five days to process.

Friday morning greetings!  Our dinner in Dayton has been postponed due to snow predictions, so Richard and I are going to an afternoon movie to see Star Wars.  We might get into some snow showers, but should be home before the heavy stuff moves in.

DR JohnG, I've always wanted to see "The Gay Parisian."  I believe it's a truncated version of the ballet "Gaite Parisienne," but I don't know if the film uses the Rosenthal ballet score.

Your library may have The Maltese Falcon with it as an extra. It is based on Gaite Parisienne.

Opted against seeing The Big Sick at this time. Just not in the mood for that. Go figure.

TOD

DVD:

I recently found an ancient Antonioni, The Lady Without Camilias, on a Spanish/Italian Blu and Ray for all of $3. We’ll see if I can make heads or tails of it.

Back from bank and market.  It is brutal outside.  I'm going back to bed.

There's been much about 2017 that was so good:  The New Yorkers was so much fun, the Lerner-Loewe show at the 92nd Street Y, two Ohio trips that included a wonderful party with DR Ginny and a performance of a piece I wrote nearly 50 years ago.  I'm often slow to respond, but the HHW folk and their adventures - BK's shows, Nursie's travels Laura's nature photography, TCB's determination to not let anything slow him down - are the nest part of every year.

Although at times I'm not sure yet, I am still pretty sure my best move was the adoption of two quirky, beautiful kittens.

I hope the follow up is not urgent.  Do you think it worked?

And Jack's successful battle with cancer!  Best thing to happen in 2017.

I'm not sure "worked" is the right word, but I do think it's going in the right direction.

Keith's description on Facebook of our river trip:

"The Zambezi River was part of my childhood. I loved jungle adventure movies and the Zambezi entered my imagination at an early age. Tonight we sat out on a pontoon boat and watched the sun set over the waters of the River--hippos, crocs, monkeys, and an amazing assortment of exotic birds in attendance. Magical."

Thanks DR Jrand.  The croc wasn't scary from the comfort of the boat.  If I had been concerned it would have been from the large number of hippos out there.
