My mother was always singing the 1940s novelty songs like the "Three Little Fishies" and "Mairzy Doats."

My mother only sings You Are My Sunshine. She still sings it to the bird.

DR elmore I am sorry the results of the test were not better.  Best Wishes he likes the medication and does well on it.

Thanks,  Me, too.  He will go back for another echocardiogram in six months to see how the drug is working out.  I see this as a regular 6-month event from now on.  It's on the calendar.

This morning I felt like I was coming down with something. Three doses of Sambucol later I'm feeling better. I'm not going out today, though. I have things I can work on here and will stay in and keep warm.

The babies and birds are fed.  Thatch has taken over the Amazon carton and Annabelle's waiting for the birds to arrive.  I need to make the bed, tidy up, and take care of the litter before I bundle Thatch up for the vet and then head to City Center.  I also need to call my 96 year-old friend Bob and check on him before I head out.

Woke up bright and early to report for duty. For some reason, though, I can’t log on to work.

It's an omen: too soon to return.  :)

Continued recovery vibes.

Thatch and I have returned from the vet and we've learned the results of his his echocardiogram: a problem with the muscle controlling the left ventricle of his heart, which is already too thick and will continue to affect his blood flow. He will be on a daily medication for the remainder of his life to slow the heart rate to slow down the muscle's thickening, eventually closing down the ventricle.

I have no idea what this means for his mortality or its longevity, but a part of me died today. I will love him, care for him, and pray to God that he has a long and healthy life.

That's all you can do. But many times the right medication is all that's needed.

At least he's had the test, you know the results, and you have a solution. You know what you're dealing with. That's half the battle.

I just bought three boxes of Sambucol.  Apparently all my cheerleading has caused a shortage in LA - unbelievable.  Literally no stores have it save for a Vitamin Shoppe I found.  And it's out of stock everywhere online - Amazon has two sellers currently selling it - at seventy dollars a box.  Needless to say, both received scathing notes from me.

Thatch has the two most important ingredients for a long and happy life -- his loving daddy and his wonderful feline companion.

You weren't in the least.  Being a mensch is a great thing to be, and you are a true mensch, as are so many of our DRs.  I appreciated the reminder,  but I suspect you meant you were afraid of being a kvetch.

Awwww, shucks.  We have to get the court photographer in soon to capture Thatch's adorable button eyes.  He is such a cutie.

I buy it from vitacost.com. Mondays are the best days to buy it as they usually announce a new sale, often 20% off their already-discounted price. During cold and flu season I find that many retailers are out of vitamin C, echinacea, and yes, sometimes Sambucol. Best to stock up.

I must be off!  I'm ushering for an event at South Puget Sound Community College.  The events there are scheduled by the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, so it's a community event, not specifically a college event.

Be back later.

There are few songs of this era I don't like.
Favorites are:
The White Cliffs of Dover
A Nightingale Sang in Barclay Square
Long Ago and Far Away
I'll Get By
When the Lights Go On All Over the World
Long Ago and Far Away
It's Been a Long Long Time
I'm Beginning to See the Light
I'll Be Seeing You
Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer

The other day Keith went to Safeway and forgot to compare the price of Haagen-Daz ice cream.  It is usually a good price there but Fred Meyer had it on sale.  I asked for a small coffee and a small vanilla bean.  He said it wasn't on sale.  Today he went again, still didn't compare the price, and purchased two large vanilla.

I am eating the vanilla but really don't want it.  I need to find a neighbor who wants this.

If only he would look at the shopping list on his phone.  I thought this is why is got Alexa for us  ::)

Of course by the time I go to Fred Meyer the sale will be over ;D

I am not really kvetching as I appreciate that Keith does most of the shopping :)
