My brother sprayed the Poison Ivy today....I may go out and spray it again in an hour or so when the sun is further down on the horizon....

Apparently, I should have paid more attention to it.  This morning I couldn't sign in to my computer.  Part of the upgrade was the use of a PIN code, as well as a password to sign in.  I had to go in and redo everything, so I could get back in to my stuff.

I had a long upgrade forced on me the other day.  I only lost my desktop photo.

I had visions of losing my manuscript forever.

Oh no!  You need to back it up and keep it safe.

Anyway, even though I had the card, I still needed to get her the gift that I thought about, which was some casino playing money.  My parents love to go to the Red Wind Casino.  So, at 11:15 pm, I got some cash at a no-fee ATM and drove out towards Yelm to the casino, put the money in one of the slot machines, instantly cashed it out, took the ticket and then came home.  That ticket is what I put in her card that I'll give her today. ;D

I like how you did the gift even if it was a bit late.

At the gym today I learned that I need a safer place to keep my phone.  Fortunately I noticed while we were still there that I didn't have it, and am grateful I found it on the floor near one of the machines I had been using.

I accomplished nothing today.  Every time I say down to edit, Annabelle climbed onto the desk, lay on the score, tried to get a tan from my desk lamp, sorted my paper clips and tried to eat several, pushed a few pens and pencils across the desk, determined that she could indeed crawl onto a book shelf from the desk and watch me from her hiding place inside a shelf of scores.

Needless to say, I accomplished very little.

Thatch spent the day napping on my bed, enjoying the breeze from the fans and the AC.

I had a dance instructor try to reshape my body into something I'm not. Maybe I'd like to be, but at this point, one week before competition, I am so not there.

I'm watching The Devil's Backbone, an early Guillermo del Toro. All the ingredients are here. It's good, but it's not quite as good as Pan's Labyrinth. Or maybe because I saw that one earlier ...

I'm ushering tonight for Patriotic Pops, which should be fun. Last year, the symphony did a Glenn Miller medley that I remember enjoying. This year, maybe Sing, Sing, Sing, which they did for the Ella Fitzgerald concert and I'd love to hear again.

TOD:

Beethoven's 7th and 9th
Mahler's 1st and 2nd
Sibelius' 1st, 2nd and 5th
Schubert's 8th
Vaughn Williams' Pastoral Symphony
Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique
Tchaikovsky's Symphoniie Pathetique

In Little Women the other night, Michael Gambon's grandfather is talking to a pouting Laurie: "May I advise against the Symphonie Pathetique until we are feeling a little more robust."

Fell asleep at three.  Woke up having a bad allergy attack at six-thirty.  Took a Claritin-D.  Fell back asleep around eight.  Slept until ten-thirty.  So I suppose that's somehow five hours of sleep.  Once up I had to correct a chart, then get ready for my noon o'clock meeting here.

At noon Adryan Russ and Shelly Markham arrived to play me the revised songs from the show I'm kind of dramaturging for them, after which I'll direct a staged reading - it's based on a fairly well known movie.  They played me the opening number, still didn't quite get what I wanted, so I spent thirty minutes, shuffling things around, futzing with the arrangement and making sure all the choruses were always at every point beginning and ending in a major key, which it wasn't, and by the end of that it was working just as it should be.  So, that's a big one fixed.  Then they played me the second song, which happens well into the show.  I changed up the arrangement a bit, made Shelly and Adryan smooth out a few things and that was that.  The third song was one I'd asked for a completely new version of musically.  And even though it was a little rough I knew it was better than the first version because it made musical sense to me in terms of the character who's singing it.  Adryan had already told me they both preferred version one.  So, I had them play that right after and they both knew the new one was preferable.  So, we finessed that and that's three songs that now are cohesive enough to be in the show.

Despite the Claritin-D this little part of allergy season is really bad, so I'm still pretty runny-nosed and stuffed up.  I went and picked up some mail (no important envelope) and no packages, then went to Antonio's Eyetalian restaurant, which is very close to the home environment.  I had what I always have there - spaghetti Siciliano - just about four ounces of spaghetti, marina, mushrooms, and onions, so pretty calorie friendly - can't imagine it's over 700 calories or thereabouts.  Then I came home.

As it was last Saturday, I'm taking the day off, jogging-wise - just a bit too chilly out plus my allergies, plus I'm full and by the time I'm not it will be even chillier.  I think it's good to take one day off a week.  One's body needs that.

I may or may not get a new track to listen to and proof - hoping I do, actually.  It's a pretty short song so and the orchestration doesn't really kick in until halfway through, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

The reason I know it's coming today is that I signed up for the Postal Service's "Informed Delivery Daily Digest" service.  Every day they send an email with a picture of the mail to be delivered that day (not including magazines and packages, though they sometimes show the tracking number of a package).

I have never head of this!  How cool
