Was there an earlier burger discussion I missed??

A few weeks ago, I mentioned the Impossible Burger the first time I had one.

I would like to try one only with better looking fries than those ;)

Had some Taco Bell for dinner - probably about 1100 calories of it, but after the three-mile jog earlier that would go down to 800 so I was able to have a 200-calorie sweet and still be right at 1000.  I'm still full.

I think I prefer a flavorful veggie or bean burger to a meat substitute.  The only way to know is to taste one.

I don't dislike The Beatles, and I enjoy some of their songs, but I wasn't specifically a fan at all.

Same here.  Hearing the songs played over and over and over again can get tiresome.

My book group is reading DELICIOUS by Ruth Reichl.  It begins with the baking of gingerbread.  So far this cake is a theme throughout the book.  At the end (I peaked) the recipe is included.  I enjoy a good gingerbread and considered making the cake for the discussion.

I did a search to read the comments on the cake.  While they are very positive, I discovered this is really a ginger spice cake baked in a bundt pan, way too much food for our small group.

You should totally make this for the discussion. Even if you give the rest away.

I would absolutely do so if this was still my Ashland group.  Our 10:00am meetings were also yummy.  This is more casual at 4:00pm in the club house.  I have baked for it or taken wine but only a few people eat the snacks.  I am not sure I even want the ginger spice cake, though it would likely freeze well since it has sour cream.  I wanted to make it when I thought it was a regular gingerbread.

Make cupcakes and freeze them, then you can defrost one at a time.

Great idea if I had room in my freezer.

Here are a few others of Bill Gold's posters, including a great one for Bullitt, My Fair Lady, The Exorcist and A Clockwork Orange.

Thanks.  We have the Casablanca poster.

Since she, and my niece, are both going to be undertaking medical treatment during the next month (or so), my sister decided to have the whole family together for a barbecue.

I said the next month or so, because my niece is wanting to reschedule her surgery for sometime after Independence Day.

Anyway, we had hamburgers and hot dogs, baked beans, my sister’s famous potato salad, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, and homemade brownies.

I don’t suppose a couple of spoonfuls of potato salad right now would kill me.

I brought home some chicken enchilladas and Spanish rice from my parents' house today.  Yummy!
