Thanks for noticing!  Obviously, I didn't. ::)

;)

When you increase the size of the photo, you're not blurry at all!

Later edit:  Maybe the image IS blurry.  But George is not.  :)

I had a good day today. I felt better than I have been, had some gratifying financial news, and also had confirmation regarding my relatively new prescription sunglasses. I knew something was wrong with them from the start, said so, but was brushed off and told to give them a try.  I took them back, the optometrist said she could fix them with just an adjustment. I was skeptical, but they were much better. After a couple weeks, though, there was still something wrong. It took me a long time to realize what it was. Today I took them to the opticians I trust and that optician spotted the problem right away: the prescription is too high. Of course, they are now out of warranty.

I thought that when you had glasses made through your insurance you were getting the same quality, just at a lower price. I now know that that's not necessarily so.  I learned today that some labs use a generic progressive lens. I'd never heard of that. My clear progressive cost $$$, but there is nothing generic about them. No wonder I like them so much! I now must decide whether I want to pay $$$ for quality sunglasses.

I had a similar incident with glasses years ago, and they were not through insurance.  Unfortunately I had a ski injury to my knee partly because I could not see correctly.  It didn't help that I was talked into getting new skis that were not a good fit.

They don't specifically mention me (actually, at all ::) ), but this is pretty cool:

The Washington Center for the Performing Arts Recognizes Amazing Volunteers.

:D

Is that blurry man in the back you?

Good catch.  I thought it looked like George but then he mentioned not being mentioned and figured it wasn't.

We have a camp for performing arts for kids ages 6-18 just 5 minutes from here.  I am sure I could wrangle a volunteer position for you

Why can I see you more clearly than that?

Oh well, Jerry Herman said things look almost twice as well when they're slightly blurry. Or something like that.

Just got turned down by the agent who said she felt it wasn't for her.  Fifteen to go!

DR Elmore, I read once that when seeking an agent you should look at books similar to the one you want to write.  Check the acknowledgments to see if those authors mention their agents and contact them.

I am doing that.  Do you think Jean Kerr's or James Thurber's agent might still be living?

How about Kay Thompson's?

Maybe I'm imagining that lady on the right looks like vixmom.

I've got to kletchup if possible for what I missed while in Florida.  Then, tomorrow, off to PA for cousin Lorelai's birthday.

Did I miss the name of the play everyone is seeing on Saturday?  Or is it being kept quiet?

Maybe you have a smaller screen than I do and that makes my version blurrier?  Just a thought.

Now we're refreshing at the hotel before meeting former DR Ben to see THE BAND'S VISIT.

Please tell him I miss him.

Yes, we miss Ben and his oatmeal.

We sure do.

Legend has it that Dancing was one of the songs Bob Merrill wrote. The other was Elegance.

Larry, lots of publishers turned down HARRY POTTER. You can imagine how they've been kicking themselves. Hang in there.

Thanks, DR Jeanne!  I was happy the agent responded so quickly, but i'm aware one man's whimsy is another's poison.  You don't necessarily get a hole in one the first time at bat.

The author of the wonderful A Confederacy of Dunces was rejected so many times he killed himself.  Then the book won the Pulitzer Prize.

Confederacy is poison to me. Chaque a son gout.

Watching Luis Bunuel's Simon of the Desert. I don't know that I've seen this one before. it's fairly short, only 45 minutes. And it's pure Bunuel. Simon of the desert is the only one to act like God, while the rest of the priests and common folks act horribly.

The cinematography in this is incredible.

Bob Merrill's wikipedia page thinks the two Merrill was involved with are "Elegance" and "Motherhood March" and some parts of "It Takes a Woman."  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Merrill

Yes, I've heard that, too.  I think it's right in the case of Motherhood March, which, to me, is why it wasn't in the movie.

Had a fun little rehearsal adding a dance (tap) break into what will be the opening number of the Sherman event - it's great.

There's an hour-long documentary on Bunuel with this DVD. Strange man. Not surprising he came to the forefront with Lorca and Dali.
