Well, in about 11 1/2 hours, I'm going to meet in person, my mom's previously unknown half-brother. He seems like a nice person in our messages on FB. Hopefully, he and his family are nice in person. I don't remember how long they're going to be in town, but we will probably go to Seattle one day.

I am shocked we still have an internet connection. It may have something to do with the change of our course due to too much ice. The captain was concerned we might get trapped. We have been a bit distracted to think about what we are missing. Other travelers are very disappointed.

I had a very weird dream about a Thanksgiving Day involving a long photocopy order, my friend John Mekeel who's in prison for murder, ny dead parents, and my mother's sister Jean, who died in 1975.

No. I posted about it several years ago when I learned about it. He killed his father with a hammer.

We were good friends in my Drama Book Shop days, and he was a student at the American Academy. He used to apartment sit while I was away on jobs. Yjos must have been around 1991 or so. He married a nice lady, Tula, from Mongolia and they moved back there for several years and I would get occasional letters. When they moved back with their baby daughter, John and I met several times for pizza and catch-ups. I met Tula and the baby who must be twenty now, when they took her to see Beauty and The Beast on Broadway.

My Christmas card that year came back as undeliverable sonce they no longer lived there, and for several years I heard nothing from John. I finally used an online search service and tracked him down through his grandmother. The marriage had ended and he was staying with his dad on New Jersey. He was writing poetry and delivering pizza for Domino's. We met in the East 30s for dinner, and I got the whole story of the breakup and the current situation, He and his dad were not getting along, and John asked if he could move in. I turned him down. Then a long period of silence followed. I tried to call him and his cell number was no longer good. I googled his name and found the story. That was in 2015 or 2016.
