Starting a Roger Corman flick called Deathstalker. Oy, does it stink. And there's a sequel. Reminds me of Mike Barnum's taste in filmmaking.

Neil Simon has died.

I know 91 is considered a good age,

but with Olivia de Havilland still bringing headline-making lawsuits at age 102, who knows what a good age is?

Neil Simon has died.

This line stands out:  "Simon had a kidney transplant in 2004 and the donor was his longtime friend and publicist Bill Evans."

Didn't someone once say something like "Now that's some dedicated publicist!"

I recall seeing Neil Simon's COME BLOW YOUR HORN when it played at Seattle's Moore Theater.

Hal March, Morris Carnovsky and Warren Berlinger were in the cast.

Years later, I saw THE ODD COUPLE at Melodyland in Anaheim.  Ernest Borgnine and Don Rickle played the roles.

No way are we eating at the outdoor grill and freezing.  Instead of our getting a veggie burger to carry out they will deliver it to us in the comfy observation lounge.

We were good friends in my Drama Book Shop days, and he was a student at the American Academy.  He used to apartment sit while I was away on jobs. Yjos must have been around 1991 or so.  He married a nice lady, Tula, from Mongolia and they moved back there for several years and I would get occasional letters.  When they moved back with their baby daughter, John and I met several times for pizza and catch-ups.  I met Tula and the baby who must be twenty now, when they took her to see Beauty and The Beast on Broadway.

My Christmas card that year came back as undeliverable sonce they no longer lived there, and for several years I heard nothing from John.  I finally used an online search service and tracked him down through his grandmother.  The marriage had ended and he was staying with his dad on New Jersey.  He was writing poetry and delivering pizza for Domino's.  We met in the East 30s for dinner, and I got the whole story of the breakup and the current situation,  He and his dad were not getting along, and John asked if he could move in.  I turned him down.  Then a long period of silence followed.  I tried to call him and his cell number was no longer good.  I googled his name and found the story.  That was in 2015 or 2016.

Well, I'd better get my butt outta bed and get myself ready to meet my uncle!  I have a few things to do before I go to my parents' house and I've dilly-dallied enough.

Be back later!

I've always liked this:  (is it from Last of the Red Hot Lovers?)

Have you slept with a humidifier?

Don't worry, I'll get around to everybody.

Found it:

- How do you like that? Sol Burton died.
- Who?
- Sol Burton, songwriter. 89 years old, and he went just like that, from nothing. You know what kind of songs he wrote? [S- word expletive]. Lady, lady, be my baby. "Lady" rhymes with "baby." No wonder he's dead.
