I suppose I have eaten chili cheese dogs with American cheese, but I always use cheddar when I make one at home. If I wanted American, I would have to make a special purchase, because I never buy American cheese.

I guess that makes me sound like some kind of cheese-snob! I am not really, it is just that my mom always purchased mild cheddar, so that is what I grew up eating.

Ditto. I pretty much use cheddar in just about most things that I make at home.

Today, I have no specific plans, except to ketchup on some more TV watching and laundry. My friend Margo called a little while ago and asked if I could come over sometime today and help move a bed so that she could paint one of her daughter's bedrooms. All three of her daughters have moved out and she's reclaiming their old rooms.

TOD:

I used to love overripe, smelly blue cheeses until I realized that they were exacerbating my mold allergy. Go figure. I probably shouldn’t eat much cheese. Now I limit it to what’s on a pizza, mozzarella and Parmesan mostly. The cheeses I’ll buy for myself are Swiss and goat’s milk cheeses, occasionally a sheep’s milk.

I cannot stand cheese food of any variety, that includes American cheese, which tastes like a petroleum product. Don’t want it on grilled cheese or a burger.

I fed the cats at 7:00 and went back to bed. Around 8:30 Thatch crawled in and cuddled and played for a bit. He likes to pace in a circle for a bit, then plop down beside me, cuddle a bit, then pace in circles and plop down beside me, landing in a different position. He's really quite funny.

Now I think I will have chili dogs today.....

I like to use shredded cheddar cheese....and a type called Fiesta Blend from WalMart.

I like the Kraft American Cheese....and of course the cheese that isn't really....Velveeta for cooking and cheeseburgers.....

Last night was the run through for SISTER ACT....we started one hour and ten minutes LATE

...at which time they decided they were going to use microphones....but the tape the man brought didn't work, so everyone was struggling...

The run through was nice....the nuns put their wimples on for the first time, so of course they couldn't hear anything and all of their numbers went to hell.....so to speak.

Today is closing night for BAREFOOT IN THE PARK and the season at Putnam County Playhouse.....

And then ONE MORE WEEK with SISTER ACT and I am done onstage for 2018....as far as I know....

As a child in 1950s Columbus I was raised on Velveeta, which to my knowledge, was about all we ever had in the house. For the first decade or more of my life, as far as I knew, cheese came in yellow unrefrigerated boxes. I loved pizza but never thought about what the cheese component was. I knew about Swiss and sort of liked it on occasion, but I basically stuck with good old American.

After that I grew to love many real cheeses, but I'm still very happy with American on my hamburger, and I'll ask for cheddar as often as not. I haven't been putting any cheese on hot dogs here so I don't have an opinion as to which I prefer, but I suspect regular American is what you'd get most places. However, we always seem to have pre-grated yellow cheese around for quick and easy melting on things, and that is usually a mild cheddar. That's what I use on my own Cincinnati chili (because I don't see any pre-grated American at my store, and I'm lazy), so I'd probably be okay with it on a cheese & chili & onion hot dog, too.

Never got close enough to liking the blue cheeses. The faintest whiff of gorgonzola in a salad is tolerable, but really, a faint whiff is my limit. But I love many cheeses, and love tasting various and sundry ones when the opportunity presents itself.

DR Elmore: Basically, yes, because I was just madly shooting in the hope of getting some clear and unblurred ones. So, not a lot of variety. However, I have a sequence of maybe half a dozen of Thatch on the bed sniffing and taking the turkey, which I will email to you.
