DR TCB it was sweet of the girl who liked you the best and nice to know that she recognized talent when she saw it.

Was the audience able to hear Virginia?

The microphone helped a great deal, but it didn't seem like it was used all the time.

Better than never hearing her.

The play, for the most part, worked last night.  There were several problems that we hopefully can work out.

Oh good.

The last scene of the play calls for Virginia's father to read the editorial out loud to the family.  I have my doubts that anyone, regardless of their reading skills, could make this entire editorial sound interesting.  Unfortunately our father does not possess those reading skills.

A shame though I did chuckle.

As a result, after getting the audience to take this ride with us (despite the excessive scene changes) the entire production screeches to a halt just before it is to end.  Pity.

That is a pity.

I think I'll mosey on out for a minute or two and see if there might be a way to purchase something to eat.

I wonder if MR BK found any foodstuffs.

Thanks to MR BK for answering my questions yesterday.

AND NOW becuase I left my participle dangling, I shall tie it up.  I needed the igniter AND the motherboard on my heat pump replaced - it is over ten years old - and that was an additional $350....

The total repair was $855 - which is more than I have paid for several of the cars I have owned in my long life.

There are no hockey games on free tv tonight, so I am not sure what I will watch.  Perhaps I shall view a disc.

At any rate.....is it nice and warm in the house.

I have to get off the computer because it is dark and Birdy Barnum says it's time to put the cover on and get out of his room....

I went to Ralph's to get ingredients for Wacky Noodles.  It was a madhouse - at one-thirty on Thanksgiving day!  Unbelievable.  I was in and out in ten minutes eight of which were spent in the checkout line.

Unfortunately I forgot the sour cream so I went directly to Gelson's.  It, too was crowded, but mostly the deli and cake counters.  I got my sour cream and was in and out in two minutes.

I made a nice batch of Wacky Noodles when I got home and have been eating them throughout the day.  Frankly, I've made better batches, but it was fine.

I decided to watch one of the streaming movies we get codes for - Can You Ever Forgive Me.  I liked it pretty okay.  Melissa McCarthy is very good as author Lee Israel and Richard E. Grant will, I'm sure, be nominated - he's terrific.  Some of the supporting performances are wonderful, including Jane Curtain as Lee's agent.  And someone named Molly Parks, whose work I don't know at all - she's great.  It's directed competently, save for the awful songs that play on the soundtrack - they really need to dispense with that hoary device for a while.  Even though the film takes place in the early 1990s, it's shot like it takes place much earlier than that.  The background score is like all background scores these days - pointless.  Just background and nothing to do with actual movie scoring.

I didn't mind watching it on the computer - I have a twenty-seven inch monitor and made it full screen, so it was fine.  I may watch The Old Man and the Gun now the same way.

I would expect most people are picking up last minute items they forgot, or as you said the deli counter.

Did anybody who watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade see Kelly Clarkson?  Was she singing live?  If not that is the best lip synching job I've ever seen.  I think I preferred the musical numbers on the CBS show (done at the theatre). Watching people lip sych in frigid temperatures wearing skimpy clothes is not that appealing.

I just looked it up and found this headline: Yes, Kelly Clarkson Actually Sang Live During the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I think that she was the only one. And it made a huge difference. Most of the others are horrible lip synchers. And some on the floats were not even singing at the same time as the recording. The camera kept going away from the singer because it was so ridiculous.

More A PLACE TO CALL HOME. I would say that fans of the series will enjoy season 6. A new character or two, plus lots of old ones.

One of the things that I like about the show is the perspective it gives on life in Australia in the 1950s and 1960s. Until I watched it I've never thought about post-WWII life there. An interesting backdrop, I think.
