GETTING MY BEARINGS
« on: November 24, 2018, 12:03:49 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes got their bearings and had a ball so they had their ball bearings, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently getting their bearings from the actual bears.

From last night...Tom, I did enjoy the Hal Prince documentary.  I enjoyed it very much.

They had footage from several original Broadway productions that I'd never seen before.  One was Ethel Shutta singing "Broadway Baby" from Follies.  That was great and in color.

I've never seen the show, but I love that score.

Hey, Washington pals!  I'm planning on taking a train trip to Seattle and staying a couple days.  Do you know a nice, reasonably priced hotel for me?

Wow.  Not off the top of my head.  There is a Quality Inn, or something similar about half way between downtown and the Seattle Center.  I’ll see if i can track down the name of the place.

Yes, I did.  And I'm burning the DVD right now.

George, you are very quiet tonight.

I got distracted.  After setting up my DVD burner, I started watching Saturday Night Live from a couple of weeks ago.

I love the musical version of RAGTIME.  Saw it, years ago, at the Shubert in Los Angeles.

I wish they'd make it into a movie.

T.O.D.

My favorite version of A STAR IS BORN is the original with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.  Great action; good simple storytelling.

The Garland/Mason remake has great songs, but it's a bit overblown.

I won't even discuss the Streisand version.  I am not a fan of Ms. Streisand.

Maybe I'll catch the Bradley Cooper/Lady Gaga version when it airs on HBO or Showtime.

Dreams have been slightly recall-able but quite amorphous these past two days. All I know is that they were derived from some aspect of last weekend’s musical gig, while having nothing whatsoever to do with music. This is not particularly unusual. Just sayin’.

Last night I slept sandwiched between Annabelle  and Thatch.  We were quite snug and warm.  My bad leg keeps me restless, and I worry about rolling over one of them.  I would hate to injure either of them.
