THE TWO-SHOW DAY
« on: November 25, 2018, 12:02:40 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were envious of the two-show day since they were only a one-notes day, and now it is time for you to post until the two-show cows come home.

What is this good night malarkey.  It is the shank of the evening, although I have no idea what that actually means.

I had a dream that I was either orchestrating or composing and orchestrating an opera and I had really, really large score paper for the job.  The dream included former friend and scumbag Ethan Mordden, my brother Randy as a very young boy, and my friend Ella Martin.

It should be a quiet day.  I need to dig out some score paper for my two choral arrangements, clear my writing table, and tidy up a bit.

We just indulged in a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and rye toast. Haven’t done that in a while and it was all perfect. The thick cut bacon from BJ’s was to die for.

There’s a subtle “Annie” reference embedded in that post, just for you aficionados (you know who you are).

Annabelle's having a hold-me morning.  She's being very clingy.  When we came up from our patrol, I discovered a flea had hopped on me, so I'm checking medications for her and Thatch on Amazon.

Update:

Meeting with the producer on Tuesday.

Show #1 will be promoted at APAC in New York in January for touring with a Grammy nominee and multiple MAC/Backstage Bistro Award-winning performer in the lead. 2019-2020 season.

Show #2: Broadway Tony Award producer looking at it. Did an elevator pitch and he liked it.

Show #3: Looking at the logistics with the producer to get one actor to do a sit-down engagement or multiple actors to tour one-offs regionally. Looking TV actors and at two who have won Emmys.

Show #4: Pitching new show.

I hope that 2019 will be the turnaround for me and I don't have to work retail anymore.

Story narrator/New York Sun publisher Edward P. Mitchell guides the audience through myriad scene changes and keeps the story in context. Played exquisitely by Tom Birkeland, the role is the anchor piece for what happens on stage. Director Aaron Mohs-Hale hit a home run with Mr. Birkeland, who has never been better than he is in this outing. Wryly humorous at times, and sternly sober in others Birkeland drifts back and forth from narrator to publisher with seamless grace. As Mitchell, his care for an employee in a bad way shows through a gruff exterior. As show guide, Mr. Birkeland is just what Mohs-Hale asked for in this spot.
