Went to Half Price Books, which is not part of scrimping and saving. Found an original cast recording of Scrooge with Anthony Newley for $1.99. I had seen the CD listed before, but I guess I didn't know that Newley was in it.

So far in this movie, Sinatra has sung with Groucho and again with Russell. The only one to get a solo so far is Groucho. And the humor isn't exactly top drawer. But it's set on Christmas Eve, so I guess it's a Christmas movie.

I'm at rehearsal. The union meeting was pretty informative (I'm quite out of the loop from what was being discussed), but I had to leave that to go to rehearsal. It's all good, though.

At rehearsal today, we found out that we lost our director. $:-\$ He was having some personal family issues (we were not told what), and chose to be with his family. The rest of the staff certainly supported his decision.

Fortunately, he had been talking with the other staff and left a lot of notes about his concept for the show (minimalist, like Our Town). The choreographer will finish the staging based on his notes (she's an experienced director as well as choreographer) and another person has been brought in as another pair of eyes.

Otherwise, people (actors, staff) are not concerned about the state of the show. All of the adults are experienced actors, and most of the kids are really doing well. I'm sure that they'll all be good by the time we open.

DR JOHN G - in one of his books Mr Groucho Marx mentioned making DOUBLE DYNAMITE.....starring himself, Mr. Sinatra, and Miss Russell....he said he was taking bets on what the title referred to....but he didn't think it was either Frank nor himself....

I watched FOR THE BOYS again today.....I kind of like it, although the OLD makeup is a bit much....it's a long movie but the story seems rushed....and of course I have always liked the soundtrack.
