I'm on my breakfast break.  Stella tired herself playing on my work table and completely ignored the fact that my picking her up and setting her on the floor 5-6 times meant she was not welcome.  Annabelle will pull this later, and Thatch will check out things, too, when the mood hits him.

Last night TCB asked, regarding hospitals:

Don’t they realize how much planning is required by the patient?

No, I really don't think they do. I've spent a lot of time in hospitals and nursing homes caring for family members and my opinion is not a favorable one.  I've met caring doctors and nurses, but the concern of the admin staff is tending to the needs of the institution. That's the job.

I also feel that many procedures are over-marketed. I've heard a lot of "back to work the next day!", which in many cases is quite unrealistic. This approach may sell more medical equipment, but I feel it does a disservice to the patient and family. My surgeon and his staff are quite good, but even they don't really prepare the patient adequately for what's to come.

I was able to reschedule a therapy appointment from next week to tomorrow and that will help.

Vibes for John G and his family. I also vote for home help. I think your dad will get better care, for starters. Is there anyone who can recommend a service for that?

TOD 1:

Someone on the campaign trail, a college student, asked Pete B. what his favorite symphony was. He said Beethoven’s 7th. We actually have a candidate who can answer that. One of my favorites, too.

That's nice to hear. Another point in his favor.

Such sad news about the death of Elijah Cummings.  I really admired him.

I feel the same. I never met him in person, but he was listed as a reference for a young man who was applying for a job with us. This was many years ago, in my Washington days. I called, and he took the call. We had a very nice chat. He had a maturity beyond his years and was very gracious. I knew of no other cases of a congressperson giving a reference, and I interviewed hundreds of applicants. I think he really cared about people and I, too, admired him. I am saddened by his passing.

Or caring for yourself once home after an out patient surgery.  I am very grateful to have Keith to feed me & help other ways.

Back from a super productive lunch - I surprised even myself with how cohesive my thoughts were.  I can still think, so that's a good sign! :)

Listening to music.  After the marathon two-hour lunch session, I'm not writing anything until later tonight.

The food was quite mediocre - penne in a pink sauce (just a dash of cream, said they) - it was like pasta in soup.  And only about five ounces, so it really could not have been all that caloric.
