A fellow on Facebook committed suicide a day or so ago. He was a "friend" so I went to his page - very nice fellow, difficult times. I checked the private messages to see if we'd ever PMd - he'd written me when I accepted his friend request and said he had a big crush on me from The Partridge Family. It was very sweet - either I never saw it or, more likely, meant to respond and then never came back to it. Now I wish I had. But that was back in 2014.

Does anybody have a good source to find out what's happening in Chicago? I've tried the Time Out site and both newspapers, but I just don't want to see Hollis Resnik in Sunset Blvd. or see Jerry Seinfeld. There's a small production of A Man of No Importance that is intriguing, but I can't even find out if the symphony is playing or not the weekend I'm there or not.

And as luck would have it, I'm missing Julie Andrews by about three days. And Madonna, too. I think I can miss her without problem.

After the Pastoral is done, then it's on to Steinberg and Nathan Milstein doing the Dvorak violin concerto, which I've never heard, and the Glouzanov concerto, which I have heard and enjoy. And then the fill-up is a Schubert symphony, which I've never heard.

Didn't love the Dvorak violin concerto, although it's beautifully played by Milstein and Steinberg. But the Glazounov is the best version of this wonderful concerto I've ever hears - and that Full Dimensional Sound from Capitol - breathtaking stereo.

The idiot on Facebook ChasSmith was talking about did indeed come back, doubled down on his stupidity, so I just did what I always do with these idiots - posted irrefutable proof that he was wrong - photographic proof and written proof. Then he doubled down even more and then actually threatened me with violence, at which point I reported him to the admins of the group and blocked him. Very predictable. This guy is a huge nut case. He's written about a hundred books - I checked them out on Amazon - all self-published but the stupid way, filled with such writing incompetence as to take the breath away. And so full of himself. And butt-ugly to boot.

I have no idea how long we'll go. Depends on how up they are on the four group numbers - we'll run each two or three times, they're not that long. Once we get to the solo stuff, we should move along at a steady clip. I'm hoping for three hours, since we don't have two of our performers.

Synching the iPod - last time it took about nine hours to fully synch the 18,000 songs - well, now there are 29,000 songs so we shall see. I began at six. It's now nine and it's done almost 6,000, so it's moving right along.

I have, thanks to the Tube of You, discovered another great and grand composer, a Latvian named Adolfs Skulte - I've only heard one symphony so far (the 5th) but it's great - very film music-like, some Korngoldian moments and quite a few Herrmannesque moments. I loved it, and thankfully all nine of his symphonies were there, save for number two. Plus several tone poem things. I grabbed 'em all, but I can't get them into iTunes until the synching is finished.
