A question for Druxy:

Did you know Thurl Ravenscroft?

What is a "Thurl Ravenscroft"?

Seriously: What made you think I would know this person?

Okay, I looked up Thurl Ravenscroft.

No, I didn't know him.

The only voice actors that I ever represented were Daws Butler and Don Messick, both very early in my career as a publicist.

Some of my other clients may have done voices from time-to-time, but nothing of any consequence.

Again: What made you think I would know this person?

Because you are a publicist.  You know a lot of celebrities. I just wondered if you knew him.

Well, I got through the interview, and I watched my language.  I think they are asking me back in March.  I just hope it leads to some work.

They played three tracks I selected: Joseph Papp's "Please Don't Monkey With Broadway" from McGlinn's Songs of New York, and the overtures to The New Yorkers and Jubilee.

Did my banking, got Coldeez and Ny-Quil (accidentally got the green kind - hope it doesn't make me want to vomit on the ground) - what I took last night was eight months past its expiry date, which is probably why it did absolutely nothing, and then brought home some matzoh ball soup, which I've already eaten and which was very good.  Now for a bagel.

Anyone hear of an American composer named Cecil Effinger?  He's quite good.

Monday morning greetings!  We attended Rob and Mary Linda's church yesterday because it was their last Sunday here and there was a little reception for them after the service.  There were lots of hugs and some tears, but overall it was very nice.  And there was a fantastic sermon by the guest preacher - Fr. Richard!  We took them out to lunch afterwards and were brought up to speed on their schedule for this week.  Departure day is this coming Sunday and we're having a family send-off get-together here Saturday evening.

Bittersweet.  At least they aren't moving too far from you.  How long is the drive?

Yes, it is, DR Jane.  The drive is only about 5-6 hours for us, so it could be worse.  And one of the things we learned yesterday is that there are 2 Ohio baby showers in the works that will bring them back here for a weekend, probably in April.

Wonderful.  Kate didn't want a shower.  I half expected friends to surprise her with one but that didn't happen.  I wish we could drive instead of needing to fly to Chicago.

DR JANE I love my HP All In One, but the system stopped recognizing the CD Drive after about 11 months and nothing could be done short of wiping EVERYTHING away.....I opted just to buy an external drive.....other than that....it's been great.

Oh no.  I hope that doesn't happen.

I am still getting used to my new computer.  It is larger than my old one which means I can't lean into my desk like I used to.

I had my primary physician check today.  It usually doesn't take more than an hour in total, including a blood draw.  Keith dropped me off & then went to the gym.  Since it is cold I wore enough outer layers for a long walk until he picked me up.  Two hours later I was out and Keith had to find things to do, including going to the market, before collecting me.

That Jubilee overture is a joy, Elmore. The other two tracks are just as wonderful. Best of luck.

This head cold has settled in and I am quite unhappy.  I think it's the result of my being up all night in a frigid apartment the night before the colonoscopy.

I just had to cancel the appointment, and I am not happy about it.  We've rebooked for Saturday morning.

That's too bad, Larry.

And now he's come out of hiding and strutting about.

Because now he knows that he's not going to the vet today. ;)

Cecil Effinger sounds like a character name from a Tennessee Williams play.....

Really enjoying my days off this week.

Feels like a bloody vacation.

Did some rather ordinary things today, which felt great. Tomorrow morning I'm going to the Apple store to sit in on one of their daily free classes and get some questions answered about my MacBook, the syncing of which with my other devices is strangely confounding me. They'll fix me up. It's great learning this stuff.
