I've only been in a couple of shows where an actor was replaced.  When I was in Annie in the mid-90s, the woman playing Miss Hannigan lost her voice during a Saturday matinee and the director wouldn't let her go on for that evening's second show.  Fortunately, the young woman who had played the role in a children's summer theater production a few years earlier (directed and chorographed by our director/choreographer...who staged and choreographed both productions in almost the exact same way ;) ), was able to rehearse between the two shows and performed that night!  She actually remembered quite a bit of it and was great!

The other time someone was replaced, I was running the sound board, so it didn't really affect me.  The original actress had a committment during the last weekend, but the director and writers really wanted her (it was an original musical adaptation of The Wind in the Willows), so they cast an understudy for the last weekend.  She was pretty good too, so it all worked out.

After kitty cleanup, I'll spend the morning doing very little.  I'll leave here just before noon for my doctor's appointment.  I read through several messages from Dr Finkelstein on my HMO site, and I found the reason I am seeing his surgeon today:  there was one polyp in my colon that the doctor could not remove and it needs to be removed surgically.

I've been reading a novel written by a friend, covering the period between the 1920s and now and the Broadway scene, and it's really a lot of fun.  It's about three friends, a trumpet player, a spotlight runner, and a singer-actress.  I finished Part One last night with a beautifully written and heartbreaking scene between the main character, a trumpet player in his mid-thirties playing in the Winter Garden orchestra of West Side Story at the time, and a pianist friend he'd met as an 18-year-old when the friend was playing piano in the 1940 production of Pal Joey.  The older pianist was no longer working as a musician and dying from cancer and the first part ended with the trumpet player fulfilling the older man's two requests, a hospital visit when summoned and a trumpet solo of "Danny Boy" at his funeral.

I still need a trip to a Big Supermarket.  I want to make a vat of vegetable beef soup.  That may have to wait until Sunday.

I am horrified to report that since I moved everything around last year, I am unable to locate my Kritzerland/Book cds.....most distressing.  I hope someone else can find theirs.

I moved them to a place that would be more convenient - wherever the hell that might be.

Well, there's no surgery today, just a consultation.

BK, I may have downloaded that CD into my iTunes.  Was there a title to the CD?

I was here way too late to have gotten that CD, and I'd love to have a copy.

If someone can please make those files available to me, too, I'd love to have them. Or just make a copy of the CD, whichever works.

Friday, and we're back to the show tonight. This is the third of our three-show weekends, with a Sunday matinee.

I have it in iTunes but it's the mastered version files in Sound Design and iTunes doesn't support Sound Design anymore so I can't play them or convert them as they're not even recognized.  I'm sure I have copies somewhere but I wouldn't know where to look.

Don't you have a backup of your computer on Time Machine?  You should be able to access all your iTunes Music on that external hard drive.  If so, drag it from your hard drive backup onto your desk top.  I checked my iTunes backups and the only CD of yours I downloaded was the "Haines His Way" CD.

Thanks!  I know I have it somewhere but not on my current external hard drive.  I'll check an earlier one.
