It's about three friends, a trumpet player, a spotlight runner, and a singer-actress. I finished Part One last night with a beautifully written and heartbreaking scene between the main character, a trumpet player in his mid-thirties playing in the Winter Garden orchestra of West Side Story at the time, and a pianist friend he'd met as an 18-year-old when the friend was playing piano in the 1940 production of Pal Joey. Just read the reviews of Mack and Mabel. The book still sucks. The score still soars. UhMaybe someone should direct the book as a silent movie with a few subtitles and play up the two-dimensional characterizations and just let the score speak for the show.

I guess it would depend on tone... it could be construed as “Sure, no problem if you would want to take my turn, I’ll do it another time”Or it could be understood as Being annoyed that someone is pushing you out of your turn so they can take over
