THE AFTERNOON REHEARSAL THAT WAS A MORNING REHEARSAL

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were neither afternoon nor morning notes, and now it is time for you to post until the afternoon and morning cows come home - the evening cows are seeing the tour of Les MOOz.

The thirty-one-year-old idiot who wrote Hunters is the WORST.  It's his first produced show.  And he thinks it's okay to set this story about Nazis in the US and hunters who find them as a drama/thriller, and then suddenly become Tarantino and make with the comedy bits that are rather like the idiot who directed the movie about Cheyney - Adam McKay.  Well, guess what - I think they call it jumping the shark and it happened in the first five minutes of episode two.  But you know this twit has not an original thought in his head so all he can do is imitate.  And the music - oh, dear Lord.  I'll be interested to see how much of this silliness I can take.

I dodged a bullet this morning.  Yesterday I booked another vet appointment for Annabelle, whose nose was clogged and who spent the entire morning trying to sneeze or to expel whatever was clogging her head.  She wouldn't eatas well.  I booked the appointment while thinking, how am I going to pay for this?

This morning, she's perfectly fine, romping with Stella and Thatch, and she ate her breakfast.  I will cancel the appointment.

I slept rather well, given my current parameters.  I was up at least four times, one of them to stand and stretch my aching leg muscles.  I also had no anxiety attacks, which makes me happy.

I had what you might call an "un"-Jerry Herman evening last night. I wanted to watch something I hadn't seen either at all, or in many years, and I chose the Warner Archive Blu-ray of Auntie Name which had been sitting in a watch pile probably since I got it.

It was glorious, and I was shocked to find that I must not have seen it since I was a kid or maybe just past college age. Certain things seemed familiar, but not "that" familiar, and the amazing thing is that I found myself expecting a song at all the obvious moments. But how beautifully it works as its own pre-Mame self. The look of the film is drop dead gorgeous, and there are some hilarious bits in it. I will NOT let decades go by before my next viewing of it.

Do you like gin?

Love it.

Great. After dinner we'll get out the cards and have a game!

Today I'm blowing off another Willy Wonka rehearsal in favor of enjoying the chance to get a few more things done at home. (These early orchestra rehearsals, which the kids desperately need, are strictly voluntary for me.)

But tonight I'm returning to the Bedford Playhouse for my first time in -- I hate to think it, but -- at least two months? Tonight's Tuesday classic is Psycho which I shall enjoy for my approximately one-millionth time. It'll be a nice evening. The guy who runs the classic series always has much to contribute, and it always includes wonderful tidbits I didn't know. He does his research. And as always, it will be rewarding to see Robert Harris if he's there.

Exactly, DR Jrand69. That entire scene is incredible.

The tossing of the drink? Classic. And it caught me so totally by surprise, that alone could have restored one's faith in movies.

Well I am late to the party.....very late.....   Yesterday there was a movie on TCM titled THAT MAN FROM RIO.  I guess I must have always gotten it confused with Our Man in Havana or whatever that's called.....which I couldn't get into.

ANYWAY.....I watched TMFR.....it is a glorious movie filmed on location in France and Brazil.  Funny and exciting.....and even though I liked Jean Paul Belmondo a lot in BREATHLESS, here he is photographed in color and is very handsome.

His heroine is the lovely Francoise Dorleac.....

Some of the scenes were shot in the newly built Brasilia.....anyway...I loved it and I hope it's ON DEMAND so I can watch it again....

Highly recommended by the likes of me.
