I didn't know that.  The page calls it the OLYMPIA DANCE FESTIVAL and the description just says:

The 11th annual festival features over 200 local dancers performing ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, jazz, ballroom, Middle Eastern, Irish, Chinese dance, and more!  This year’s festival will feature guest artists from the Cirque du Soleil.

I have.  I sent in my ballot on Monday.

I think it is weird that you have to declare your party preference on the envelope, but how do they know that you vote for a candidate from that party on the actual ballot?

Didn’t you think that was weird?  What was the point of the declaration?

In California when I voted in a Presidential primary (a hundred years ago), you had to request the ballot of the party you were declaring.

The actual ballot also has a bubble to be filled in to indicate your party.

You're voting for which candidate you want your party to vote for, and you don't vote for another party's candidate, so you have to declare which party you want to participate in.
