DR John G, what's the symphony programming tonight?

Mozart Symphony 29, Prokofiev Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra, Ravel’s Rapsodie espagnole and Mazzoli’s Holy Roller.

The mayor has just put a halt to gatherings of more than 500. I think this would be included. But I haven’t had an official word.

Also, Fiesta has been postponed until November.

Four people on my team, chosen supposedly at random, were told to work from home until at least May 1. I was not one of those chosen. My boss was also chosen, was her boss and their boss.

I found it interesting that two of those chosen have had health issues lately. Another is freaked out and asked already to work from home.

It would be easy to work from home. I do one day a week now and will continue to do that. And who knows? There’s talk of them increasing that schedule to include more people.

It’s pouring rain today

It's snowing in Tumwater! :o Well, it's more of a rain/snow mix, but still it's cold enough for snow!

The theater has canceled everything through April 25. That includes Jane Goodall. Bummer.

Just back from shopping.   I'm almost out of paper towels so I thought I'd try Costco (and also to see what was going on there).  Wow!  There were lines to get in the place, lines to get to the water area and of course to the long check-out lines.   They were completely out of paper towels and toilet paper.   I walked out with nothing.  Then I went to my local supermarket, Giant, and had no trouble getting paper towels and some gallon-size bottles of water, among other items.

I think it was Wednesday when a co-worker of mine was going to go to Costco for some toilet paper, too, but he ended up going to Home Depot and had no trouble.

The cats and I had our lie-down.  I sort of dozed, but I really can't sleep in a bright room.  The cats have no problem at all.  I am so glad I am the only one of the four that snores.

So...we just got an e-mail from our director that said this:  "This email is to let staff know that we will be closing all libraries at the end of their scheduled day, today." :o

However, certain "essential" employees will still need to work, but most people aren't "essential" employees (that's a specific designation, not a personal judgment ::) ).

I don't know how long we'll be closed (yet), but fortunately, we'll be using Emergency Leave (which is determined by the Admin and has no specific limit) so that we won't have to use our own vacation or sick leave.

West Side Radiology was empty.  I was out in 30 minutes.

Great.  Though that was still long considering the x-ray takes less than 10 minutes ;)  I took a total of 40 minutes at my visit x-ray.

Nonsense.  It took about 5 minutes after I signed in before one of the ladies called me to register, about 15 minutes to fill out the forms and give them my insurance info, 10 minutes or so for the X-rays.  When I was there last July or August, the place was so crowded that I waited over an hour after being processed.

I am very sorry.  How much emergency leave do you have again?  I gather you are not essential?

Wow, 15 minutes for forms.  I walked up and registered, all withing 5 minutes.  I guess because I did it at the local hospital that has all of my information.  Then I waited 20 minutes after my appointment time to be taken back to the x-ray.

An hour wait to process.  I guess I shouldn't have complained about my "long" wait.

Since Emergency Leave is determined by the Admin, there's no limit.  THEY have decide that all libraries will be closed for two or three weeks (I've seen conflicting announcements), so when we fill in our time sheets, we select "Emergency Leave" and we'll get paid at our regular rate.

As for me being essential or not, I'll actually have to come in for at least a day and pay invoices that are here now but not yet paid in our system.  I will also have to compile the monthly budget reports and spreadsheet, and I'll have to do all of that here.  I don't have access to our ILS (integrated library system) from home.

Will your time sheet will reflect hours at work?  I had that that your work might make you somewhat essential :)

Our libraries had stated they were staying open but cancelling all extra activities.  I wonder if that will change.

Another disgusting press conference with Tramp the Almighty.  The "health people" he's lined up praise his glory and ignore his incompetence.

Friday afternoon greetings!  So I ventured out today for my physical therapy appointment, but otherwise we're self-isolating.  It's not hard to do, because a lot of places we'd be inclined to go are closed.
