Hi Jeanne.  Are you feeling better?

Jane, I am OK, thanks. But glad I rescheduled the surgery.

Oh yes.  I am glad you are well.

FWIW, her acupuncture community is talking about using the herb astragalus for COVID-19. It's a frequently used herb in Chinese medicine. Katy also told me that she's a believer in wearing a scarf to keep the back of your neck warm, which is said to help you stay healthy.

I hate when the back of my neck gets cold.  I agree with this.

I then went to the mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant. I was one of two customers. That's not too unusual on a rainy day. I asked the owners if they were able to get supplies. "Supplies? Yes. Just no customers." This will really hurt many small businesses. I hope they are not one of them.

I feel guilty not going out to dinner tonight.

I have been told that all of us who can work from home are ordered to do so. So, I guess I'm working from home until May unless otherwise noted.

I went to an excellent mom-and-pop Mexican place in the neighborhood. There was one other table and one take-out order.

I have completed my 2020 Census form online.  I am counted.

We received ours in the mail today.

I got mine in the mail either yesterday or the day before.

DR George, any plans for your time off?

Ketchuping on all my TV watching, and consulting with my sister's boyfriend about the problem of making Blu-rays from the other DVR.  The images are all zoomed in when I record from this other DVR, so I don't know what happened.  I might also clean.  We'll see about that, though. ;)

I'm glad you'll be getting paid.

Thanks!  I'm sure everyone else is, too!

And now, I'm leaving.  I'm leaving an hour early, but EVERYONE else has left the building, so why not me?  I don't really have anything to do, just putter, so I'm outta here.

Be back later!

Then I went to the supermarket to get stuff for a soup I'm making on Sunday. It was like Florida before a hurricane came in. Shelves were empty.

I was able to get garlic, onions, organic celery and apples. But all of the carrots were gone, all the lettuce, all the bananas, all the bread, the toilet paper. I also managed to get some chips and salsa, pickles, olives, ice cream and a few other necessities.

Jeanne, the real hoarding began yesterday.  Before that it was sporadic.  Yesterday, it exploded.

Recorded a few things I needed to, now listening to music.  Doug is trying to get me to come tonight, but I'm just not feeling it and I'd have to get gas in the motor car, too.  We'll see how I feel around seven-thirty.

I am seeing the photos on facebook.  I hope I don't regret not buying cabbage for my salads as I am almost out.

A friend put up photos of his visit to Trader Joe's today and the frozen section was empty.  I will call before I take a trip to get more jars of artichoke hearts.

Watching Judy. The script is lousy, but the performances are interesting. The Jessie Buckley from Wild Rose is nothing like the prim character she plays here. Rufus Sewell is unrecognizable as Sid Luft. I'm not entirely sold on Renee Z.

Watching "Before Sunset." I can't remember if I ever saw this one. I know I saw the first and the third.

Ethan Hawke seems to be doing his best Woody Allen impersonation in this movie. It's not as charming as the other two, but I love the talk.

I finished a fun book today called Trust Exercise, by Susan Choi. The first half is about the students in a high school drama program, who learn some life lessons a little earlier than others might. Some of the details are hilarious, but the book is actually fairly involving on a dramatic level.

Apparently there is a fake story circulating that the National Guard is on their way to quarantine the PNW.  People are relieved to know it is false.  I vaguely recall seeing the fake story and completely ignoring it.

This fake crap has to stop - people have to be held accountable.  They have the ability to trace this stuff and it should be a crime to do this during a time like this.

For fun, at nine-fifteen I drove to the nearby Gelson's.  Empty parking lot, save for the employee loading his trunk with toilet paper and water, like THAT's gonna save him from anything.  So, I decided to park and see what it looked like inside.  But I couldn't because Gelson's is now closing at nine rather than eleven.  I hate to tell them, but there might, there just might be something on a shelf that no one wants that someone actually needs.  Good going, Gelson's.  Not sure when this insane insanity will end but it cannot be soon enough.
