Congratulations on the award. Was it for a particular show?

No. But I don’t hate it. I hate sugar in my chili.

Of course the endless rolls of toilet paper are sitting in closets - it's called stockpiling aka hoarding - and I'm not talking about folks who bought enough for a month - I'm talking about buying for six months to a year.

Yes, it was for the Michel Legrand show, which featured Daniel Bellusci, Brittney Bertier, Ellie Birdwell, Kerry O’Malley, Jenna Lea Rosen, and Robert Yacko, L’Wonderful, L’Marvelous, Legrand.

Eating Wacky Noodles and listening to the marvelous music of Yasushi Akutagawa - great composer - did lots of classic Japanese movies - but his classical works are just like his film music and amazing.

I am now glad I read that endless bio of Robert Moses last year. It’s helping me understand the film version of Motherless Brooklyn. Only the character is called Moses Randolph insteps of Robert Moses.

The movie of Motherless Brooklyn is very little like the book, except that the lead character has Tourette’s syndrome. It’s now set in 1959 instead of the 1990s, if I recall correctly, and it has the feel of a New York version of Chinatown.

I read today in Erik Larson’s new book on Churchill that eggs and toilet paper were both rationed during World War Ii. The king of England asked his ambassador to Washington to smuggle his favorite brand of tp back to London.

I can see that. It's not a great movie. But at least Edward Norton has surrounded himself with good people, and the scenes he tries to emulate all come from good movies. If it doesn't all work, it could be worse. I would rather see somebody try to steal from Chinatown or the best of the jazz scenes in Bird than, say, Harlem Nights.

We liked the movie, but then I can't compare it to the story in the book.  I didn't realize the movie needed a deeper understanding ;D
Oh, what a difference in the year.

Our socially distant errands went fine.  The Kroger pick-up system is very slick and I will use it again.  Our only in person stop was Staples, where the surly young cashier couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to touch a public keypad and asked her to enter our rewards number on her register.  We are in now for a while.

A couple stores in the UK set up special hours (usually the first half hour before opening) for seniors to shop while there are still items on the shelves and few people. I don't know of any stores in the US doing it. Has anyone heard of special arrangements like this?

They’re doing at the supermarket down the block from me on a Thursday 6-7:30 am for people 60+

Preparation for the AAUW book sale has been suspended indefinitely and the sale itself, scheduled for April 16-19, will probably take place in the fall.

I usually don’t want beans in it either but Vixdad is a fan of beans so I put both black and red beans in this last batch of chili

Apparently lots of markets in Southern California have early senior shopping.
