I had a nap with Thatch.  Annabelle is definitely feeling bad.  Getting her to have some breakfast was an ordeal.  When she's feeling fine, she's anxiously waiting with the other two for the plate to be set before her.

Last night TCB asked:
Quote
Why is it that most people only cook a corned beef dinner on St. Patty’s Day?  It is the same delicious dinner, no matter when you serve it.

Totally! And I do enjoy it any time of year. I love the stuff.

For us, doing this on St. Pat's is a fun, silly, inexpensive, and very delicious tradition. Nothing more. But we like some traditions, and this is one of them. No one is under any illusion that there's even the slightest thing authentic or meaningful about it. And that's not to insult anyone of Irish descent or Catholic faith or anything else. We aren't of either persuasion...any more than any of us are Mexican on May 5th. Hell, what I love about the meal is that it's more Jewish than anything. I'm downright passionate about this particular combination of foodstuffs.

Yes, people should cook this very meal all year. With the exception of soda bread, every single thing about it is available to all, every day of the year.

Is it always congestion that causes this with Annabelle, or does it seem more like she has a bug?

She has an immune deficiency, and the vet suspects it's a herpes virus.  I'm currently forcing Lysine down her to boost her immune system.

Yes, but the Chinese government placed people in quarantine by force.  We are far from that apparently effective method.

And look at those young idiots celebrating spring break on the beaches.

DR TCB I am sorry you are required to make multiple trips to shop a little at a time.  I hope your electric chair helps keep people at a distance.  Shopping carts also help somewhat with that, though you have to pass each other in the narrow isles.

I never knew home delivery meant they delivered it inside for you.  That is very helpful.

From DR George:
Quote
My sister called me today, asking if I would trim her hair...just a blunt cut straight across to shorten it all.  She doesn't have confidence in her daughter's ability to cut her hair in a straight line, so I'll be attempting it

I would love a video of this-lol

I trimmed my bangs last night.  I think I will have to trust Keith to do this next time.  Between my shoulder & my elbow it is impossible to reach at a good angle for cutting.  He had to finish one last bit for me.  I might as well let him start from the beginning.

The Love Salad is:  "Fresh romaine and napa cabbage, topped with crunchy noodles, sliced almonds and our creamy ginger “LOVE” dressing."  It's kind of large, but not too much for one.  It's probably enough for two Janes, though.

I don't know, I eat a large salad as my only meal, but then it includes more veggies and protein.  This sounds delicious.

My eye appointment has been cancelled.  Now I am stranded wearing scratched lenses with an old prescription and had not ordered new contacts.

My assessment of the two bios of Jerome Robbins that I am currently reading: Deborah Jowitt is a dance writer and she's really good in assessing the choreographer's work; Greg Lawrence's book is much more interested in Robbins' psychological issues and gossip.  They are both interesting.

For my hospital reading I am taking William Mann's Tinseltown.  I've had it since it was published in 2015, and I dug it out after the run of Mack & Mabel.

It's my regular book group night tonight and they're going ahead and meeting in person.  I, along with a few others, indicated we would not attend, so our leader has arranged for us to call in via the technology she uses in her telecommuting.  Film at 11...

It's about Mabel Normand and the murder of William Desmond Taylor.

My book group is small and I am still considering not going.  We sit too close to each other.  Fortunately it is in the clubhouse and not in someone's home.  We don't meet until the 30th so I will ask on Monday, giving them a week to decide.

Tonight's meeting is in someone's home and will be attended by at least one person who has both flown and been in an elder care facility within the past week.  It's my understanding that travelers should self-isolate for 2 weeks upon their return.

Today's experiment, thus far, is a fail, at least for me it is.  We'll see if the failure turns to success in about ten minutes.
