Started watching Jean Renoir's La Chienne (The Bitch), but it was just too ugly for my mood tonight. So, I put on a bootleg of the flop revival of On a Clear Day. From the beginning, when a dour Harry Connick takes the stage, it's easy to see why this production flopped. Instead of John Cullum's clear, resonant baritone, we get Connick's tenor and the songs all sound wrong. I never cared for Yves Montand in the movie version, but his singing there was better than this.
