Last night I started to watch Orson Wells' Chimes At Midnight and decided I wasn't in the mood.
That’s on my to-watch list.
My introduction to
Chimes At Midnight was seeing it at USC's Norris Cinema in an Orson Welles film festival in late 1981. I was blown away by the world he created in that film, and especially by Welles and Gielgud themselves.
I kept one of the small posters they made up for the festival, and there are a few of my handwritten notes on it. It seems they presented
Chimes twice due to a schedule rearrangement, and I'm not sure I was there the first time, but I was on the second night when they showed
Macbeth followed by
Chimes, and guests that evening included Dan O'Herlihy who'd played Macduff.
Edit: Welles was there, too, but on one or two other nights.
