I feel silly saying this, but our overnight lows are such that I turned the furnace on for about 30 minutes this morning to take the chill out of the house. An indoor temperature of 60 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale is just a bit too low for the likes of moi. It's only going up to 71 or thereabouts today, and will begin to get warmer again tomorrow.

I almost created a firestorm over on Facebook.

I meant to type "Happy Anniversary, Kids!"

Instead I typed "Happy Anniversary, Yids!"

I took it down before too many Angry Faces were posted.....at least it wasn't for former DR JMK & Betsy!

I napped for almost two hours. I think I will put on a few CDs and work for a while.

I turned the AC off.  Yesterday it was freezing in the apartment.

It’s 88 out there. Even though there’s no humidity, it feels like 90.

Also, today is the 22nd anniversary of the day that I bought my car!  I need to get it serviced (fairly soon), but it still runs pretty well! :D

22 years.  Congratulations.

Does anyone still celebrate Flag Day?

Nope though I used to celebrate my sister's birthday.

I got back from my walk about a half hour ago. Now I am air frying some acorn squash. Acorn squash has been in every one of my vegetable boxes for the last couple of months. I have so many acorn squashes. No one in my family will eat any kind of squash.

We are not fans in this household though we will eat it.

WOW!!

Mine just passed its 18th birthday!

And given that it's still on that tank of gas purchased on March 19th, it's been enjoying a nice break.

Hell, I'm still driving on my snow tires!

Since I would ordinarily have had them removed in March right when everything stopped, these additional miles on them count for practically nothing. I'll probably go in to have them changed when it's time to fill the tank. That seems appropriate. :)

In other news, I submitted a review of SIMPLY on Amazon, and it posted in less than ten minutes! Go figure. You never know with these things, so I hope it shows up for others and not just me.

I spent the afternoon listening to Kurt Weill Revisited 2 and LA Now and Then.  I don't think I'd heard the Weill since I first bought it on vinyl, and I'd forgotten how wonderful it is.  So much of Ben's later recordings were total hits or misses with his concerns for studio time, refusal to repair things, and general sloppiness that I'm happy the Weill isn't one of those.

As for LA Now and Then, it's so wonderful!  I think I enjoyed it more listening to it than watching it.  I could focus on Lanny's wonderful charts and the fantastic band, just listen to the lyrics and enjoy the vocals.  What a wonderful CD!

I also wrote about 24 bars of orchestration, aided and abetted by three cats who showed up at various times to criticize and offer advice.  Thatch came first, and after he left, Annabelle declared it her territory as she rolled around the paper, played with paper clips, and forced me to write around her.  Then Stella showed up to lounge on my calculator and groom herself.  I tossed her off the table and Thatch came back, followed shortly by Annabelle who decided to groom Thatch while I wrote.  He left, Annabelle stayed for a bit, and then I picked her up and set her on the floor.  Stella returned, LA Now and Then had just ended, and it was time to feed them.  So they've had dinner and I'm at the computer.

Do the assistants get paid by the measures, pages, or hours?

By whim.  It's cheapest.

I just received a nice surprise.  A friend sent me a photo from the early 1990s with me, Roberta Peters, and some NYC Gay Men's Chorus drag queen - Miss Coco, maybe? - after a rehearsal for a holiday concert featuring Miss Peters, who was not just a great artist, but a really beautiful lady.

Can't you get a ticket for driving on those after the season has ended?  I hope the rules have been relaxed.

Yes. Make it as pumpkin pie. Or mousse. Or bread. Just don't tell them.

Just finished watching Da 5 Bloods. Couldn't have been more timely. Loved it, even though it is looong.
