Tuesday afternoon greetings!  We're picking up groceries soon and then will be in for, probably, the rest of the week.

Oh, look, I found page 2!

TOD - One of the topics of lengthy discussion last evening on our AAUW Zoom board meeting was having a book sale to get rid of what we've already accumulated at the site.  They're looking at mid-September with social distancing and masks required and I have no desire to be part of trying to enforce that.  I'll do all the emailing and Facebook posting they need to publicize, but I won't do anything in person.

DR Ginny's post reminded me to check into what the Danbury library is doing about their sale which is always on Columbus Day weekend. It's cancelled.

We lost all of the library sales this season, and we have some great ones in this area. I shall optimistically look forward to next year's sales (1) actually happening, and (2) being better than ever.

Another spot on the Facebook page where this annoyance happens:

On the left side of my home page I have a number of shortcuts for various groups I'm in, and the default is to show only the first four or five of those. So I click "More" to see them all, and now that simply refreshes my whole damned page and I have to click it a second time to make the other groups display.

Little things. But so infuriating.

This hurricane seems to have moved up the coast pretty quickly. Looking at the radar, it's already over northern New Jersey. We're just on the eastern edge of the big rotating mass, and it's windy, but nothing to write home about. But there will be more, up to 4:00 or 5:00 pm, then rain and more rain following that.

I'll have more for you after January 1.

I think it's already started raining here, but I'm not hearing any sounds of a huge storm.  Maybe later.

We just had a news alert: if you're living on Shelter Island, take shelter.  So it's sounding more serious than I expected.

Now here's a political question: with all these constant alerts to the US Postal Service going bankrupt and the Fat Orange Slug's having his new Postmaster General slow down the mail, why the fat hell is neither the House nor Senate doing anything?

I am relieved to know you will not be doing it in person.  If you go shopping, wear gloves.

Karen Belsky, yes, Karen Bass no.  Karen Belsky married a man named Bull so she's now Karen Bull, not Karen Bass.

I don’t wanna work today.

After I cleaned up Stella's mess and put the vacuum cleaner  and Big Ladder away, I spoke to Joshie who's at City Center today, worked on the A&T book a bit, and then sorted the cans of cat food I had brought down.  In fifteen minutes I'll feed the cats, take the recyclables to the basement, check the mail, and think about dinner.

DIdn't know Karen Bass was a Hami graduate.

It is mentioned in Wikipedia. "She was raised in the Venice and Fairfax neighborhoods of Los Angeles and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in 1971."

Reading that I am not sure why she went to Hami.  I am guessing she was on the border.

Bruce I forgot last night that the rude guy that sneezed did have his mask on when he sneezed.  Two masks for protection.  No wonder you aren't concerned.

The story I told the other day of the person who almost ran us over on their bicycle is our main confrontation, and it was a biggie.  We did not have our masks on at the time since we were in a quiet area where avoiding people should have been easy.  As the other person did not have a mask on I had to tell Keith to back away 6 feet.

I am pleased to announce that an audio edition of my first novel, NOBODY DROWNS IN MINERAL LAKE (1999), is finally available for download via audible.com, Amazon or iTunes.

"Mineral Lake" is, of course, a pseudonym for SOAP LAKE, WA, where I spent many summers during the early years of my life.

The novel of suspense, read by Chip Dolan, is the story of a homecoming that quickly develops into your worst nightmare.

"A fascinating tale based on a true story." -- John Austin, Book of the Week.

The novel is also available in paperback and Kindle editions.

Congrats, Druxy!

We have many rude people on the walkway that bike, walk, etc too close to us.  Most the time we don't say anything.  Fortunately there are plenty of polite people.  I especially appreciate parents who instruct their children to be thoughtful.  It doesn't always work due to the age and distractions for the children but at least the parents are trying.

Yesterday a women instructed her daughter, who was on a scooter, to move to keep people safe.  I gave the mother a big smile of appreciation.  I always try to smile & let the parents know I appreciate their efforts, if they succeed or not.

Facebook started doing this latest in a series of hateful things a couple of days ago (on the desktop/browser version, not the app, which I don't use):

I'll be scrolling down some page (usually my news feed), and if I click on a "Like" or on some other kind of link, it pops me back up to the top of the page and, of course, refreshes it so I lose wherever the HELL I was. The "Like" takes effect, but I'd have to go looking for that post if I needed to see it again. I'm curious as to whether it's "just me" or if anyone else has experienced this.

:o Yikes!  That's so stupid!  I haven't experienced that myself, yet.

Well, the Senate drank the Trump Kool-Aid long ago, but I don't know why the House isn't doing anything. ::)
