MUSINGS ON THE BALL PEEN HAMMER

Well, you've read the notes, the notes mused and ruminated on the ball peen hammer, and now it is time for you to post until the hammered cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PROPINQUITY!

To paraphrase a line by Madeline Kahn from What's Up, Doc?"Don't you know the meaning of PROPINQUITY?"

I'm hoping that our DR ChasSmith will be back with us today from a power-full estate.

I slept rather well.  The toothache has returned after a week's absence, and woke me around 3:30.  I am not happy since I have neither dental insurance nor a dentist, and God alone knows when the NYU Dental Clinic will reopen.

I don't know if I need a filling or if it's one of the symptoms of the nasal polyps I was scheduled to have removed last September.  Between the arthritis and pains in my knees and hips, the polyps, my teeth, and the crushed discs in my lower back, my health is killing me.

At 5:30 this morning, I woke from the sound of something I did not recognize.  It was Thatch, who had grabbed a pack of dried salmon treats and was trying to tear open the bag with teeth and claws.  I opened the bag, gave him and Stella a few treats and went bacl tp bed for about 45 minutes.

DR JohnG, I have never seen all of the film of On The Town.  As soon as I hear the MGM reorchestrations of Bernstein's ballet music I'm forced to turn off the movie.

Last night we watched the first two episodes of Wodehouse Playhouse on DR JohnG's recommendation a couple of weeks ago.  I laughed a lot.

I enjoyed DR VIXMOM's run of posts last night.

I guess I am stuck with the leftover pizza from yesterday, but that's okay.

No new and wonderful news, as of yet. This power outage is one of the biggest ever in the state, and progress couldn’t be happening much slower.

Worse, the cell towers are in horrible shape. I’m still getting my only reliable reception strength out on main road.

Other than that, all is well.

George Szell has been discussed around these parts lately......I happened to see his NYT obituary a few days ago, because he passed away around the same time as Miss Frances Farmer.....

Oddly enough, I think I used to own a ball peen hammer. No idea why.

It’s very likely that I never have, either. I remember renting it once back in the earlier days of home video. Maybe I watched it all, maybe I didn’t. I was disappointed with it, to be sure.

I’m thinking that could have been about the time I saw it at Goodspeed. Early 90s?

I think I know Debra Paget ONLY from those two Corman films. Which seems strange, considering how big a name she always seemed to me.

Yes, DR vixmom’s posts have been a sight for sore eyes. I’m especially pleased that she has thus far avoided the inconvenience of a jury trial.
