And the music resumed!

If it were me I would not be feeling very friendly at this point.

Last night when I checked the weather forecast I had been revised downward to low 80s next week instead of high 80s, but I think we got up to 94 today. Much too hot!

Full blown allergy attack. Hopefully the pill will kick in soon, but I'm telling you this was partially brought on by the air conditioning - maybe the filter needs changing.

By all means change the filter.

When anyone in my neighborhood throws a loud late night party, I put on my tuxedo, grab a wine glass, and go on over!

We had a nice time at Marianne and Steve’s last night.  On their patio overlooking a huge pond they set up 3 tables, one for each couple, with some distance in between.  Each table had a sourdough baguette, butter, and some veggies and dip.  We wore masks except when sitting at our individual tables.

That sounds like a very sensible way to entertain.

Hmmm George, I am not sure how typing exorbitant left me with expectorant ;D

Well, they both start with an e. The spellchecker is probably having a lot of allergy problems like the rest of us and had hacking on its mind. (Most spellcheckers are pretty DUMB.)

Hot flashes, eh? I can tell you about hot flashes. I have been having them for the last 15 years. Yes, 15. They are never going to end.

Vibes to DR Laura. That's awful!

I tried to watch LITTLE WOMEN today. First, I was having problems with the dialogue. Granted, I read the book as a child, but it was just too contemporary. Then it was the behavior of the girls--same problem. For me it just wasn't credible. It was contemporary women dressed in period clothing and doing a 21st century version. Is this what was intended? I read and watch period books and movies to glimpse what life may have been like then. I had to turn it off.

Did anyone else have this reaction?

I did both times I saw it. And I can understand that feeling, even though I enjoyed it. Let's face it, there's no perfect film version of Little Women. But this is far from the worst. I think the worst has to be the modern day one with Lea Thompson as Marmee. The Marches aren't poor. They burn candles everywhere. There's nothing to get emotionally invested in. Not even Beth.

I don't think the Katharine Hepburn version was well written. And the TV version with Susan Dey took its time, but it looks hideous, like it was filmed on a budget of $1.50 -- and that went to William Shatner's salary.

I watched Bringing Up Baby today on TCM and laughed out loud for most of the film. It struck me as being funnier than any other time I've seen it. I love the movie, but today everything shone brighter than usual.

Cillaliz, I'm glad you're OK. My friends in Des Moines were without power for a day. Bill had to work from a nearby dentist's office. Laurie couldn't work at all without power. Friends of theirs, who lived out of town, were without power for days.

The news just said there are still 83,000 without power.

Finished with my viewing, went to Gelson's and got some melon and almonds for a snack - put on the air before I left and thirty minutes later returned and even with the air on it was still eighty-two.  But I can't have it on because I do NOT want another allergy attack this evening.  When I shower, I'll turn it on and that will cool things down a bit.

Vixmom asked on FB about the derecho in Iowa.  I hadn't thought about checking in about it.  It hit central and eastern Iowa from around Des Moines east. It was 30 minutes of over 100 mph winds  There is tons and tons of damage.  Luckily, it didn't hit my part of the state. We had a storm and we had some strong winds, but not enough to do damage other than a tree limb here or there.  It hit the 4 largest cities in Iowa as well as killing over 1/3 the corn crop in the state.  It happened Monday and there are still a lot of people without power.  It's bad. Feeling very grateful it didn't hit here

Hi Cilla.  I am glad you didn't get hit with the storm.   I hadn't read about the corn crop on top of the other damage.
