I was going to have my hamburger(s) Hamlet #11-style this afternoon, but this morning I remembered there's no bacon in the house, and I'm absolutely not going out for anything today. That's okay. I'm still going to experiment with these by having one with Russian and one with Thousand, and we'll see what verdict the jury comes back with.

I think DR Jane said she never liked Russian as much, and I generally agree with that. I enjoy Russian on sandwiches just fine, but a good Thousand is just so much more delicious. Hell, I can eat it out of the bottle.

It's funny, though. Maybe it's because back in the early 1970s I was confused as to what Russian really was -- but in my mind's eye, I clearly see those hamburgers as having Thousand on them. The difference in color, at least in the bottled ones I know now, is really distinctive.

The reason for my confusion was having had and enjoyed a bottled Russian dressing before I moved out there, that was more red in color with a distinctively different flavor and consistency. So, I had this idea about Russian dressing that didn't match the Hamburger Hamlet's at all. I need to find one like that and put it up against the ones I know now, and see what's what.

Labor Day afternoon greetings!  Charlotte and her parents left a couple of hours ago and now our house is too, too quiet  :'(

We did have a wonderful 5 days, though.  Their visit was very much under the radar - we even hid their car in the garage.  The only time they left the house was to walk to Sunset Park on Saturday.  Richard left a couple of times to pick up take-out and he and I left together to pick up a grocery order on Friday.  Charlotte is such a good baby and Rob and Mary Linda seem as at ease with her as any first-time parents can be.

September 7 was not a holiday in 1985, but it was my own personal Labor Day - happy 35th birthday to Rob!

Windows are open, now and then a nice breeze kicks up, and the house feels great.

Our temps are 70's & 80's as well.....I haven't used the air much the last couple of days which will look nice on my bill later this month.

Lucky you.  Our temps have gone back up with only a high of 90 expected today.  I say only compared to California.

Today is my wedding anniversary. Maybe we will splurge and get some takeout. All I have defrosting is ground beef. Yawn.

I never said "as much", only the part about not liking Russian dressing ;)

Stats hamburgers had Thousand Island on them?  Did you ever eat there?  I don't recall what year they closed.

I don't remember Russian dressing on the Hamlet burgers, but then why would I when I would have either asked for, or just made my own Thousand Island on them.
