I was going to have my hamburger(s) Hamlet #11-style this afternoon, but this morning I remembered there's no bacon in the house, and I'm absolutely not going out for anything today. That's okay. I'm still going to experiment with these by having one with Russian and one with Thousand, and we'll see what verdict the jury comes back with.

I think DR Jane said she never liked Russian as much, and I generally agree with that. I enjoy Russian on sandwiches just fine, but a good Thousand is just so much more delicious. Hell, I can eat it out of the bottle.

It's funny, though. Maybe it's because back in the early 1970s I was confused as to what Russian really was -- but in my mind's eye, I clearly see those hamburgers as having Thousand on them. The difference in color, at least in the bottled ones I know now, is really distinctive.

I never said "as much", only the part about not liking Russian dressing ;)

Stats hamburgers had Thousand Island on them?  Did you ever eat there?  I don't recall what year they closed.

I don't remember Russian dressing on the Hamlet burgers, but then why would I when I would have either asked for, or just made my own Thousand Island on them.

I think I ate at a Stats (were there more than one?) in ‘75 or ‘76. I’m thinking somewhere on Wilshire Blvd., but can’t quite bring it into focus.

Yes, my Stat's (and Jane's) was on Pico west of Robertson a few blocks.  The Stat's you ate at was there until the mid-1980s on Wilshire just west of San Vicente and just down the street from the Wilshire Theater in a little strip mall.  My go-to meal at Stat's was their weird cheeseburger, where the cheese was melted INSIDE the burger and burst forth when you cut into it.  Loved that.

Finished The Big Heat but even though our big heat has abated somewhat it still feels too darn hot.

Nice cart.  Will you set the microwave on top?  Earlier when I searched microwave carts I saw some with cutout areas for the microwave though they did not look as nice as this one.

The wind speed is currently 22 miles an hour and it is very smokey outside.  I suspect I might want to wear my mask when walking tomorrow morning.

That seems more convenient then set inside of a shelf down lower on the cart.

The wind is up to 36 miles an hour.  I am curious what the top speed will be.

I've been busy all day doing laundry, paying bills, and taking care of odds and ends. Such as why didn't the USPS deliver my book on Saturday. They say they attempted delivery. I don't believe them; I was here all day. They apparently want me to pick it up somewhere, but failed to leave one of those little notice slips or tell me WHERE. The book came from the UK. It managed to come all this way and yet the USPS can't seem to complete the journey. Ugh! I have a couple more things to do before Wednesday's surgery.

Nice cart, Vixmom. You are a true shopper. I would have checked Amazon first, then only gone in-store shopping if I absolutely had to.

73 degrees outside.  Maybe I'll take a little drive over to Gelson's and see what's what for food tomorrow.

Oh, George, sorry. You asked which face masks I ordered. I'd planned to order two, but couldn't decide, so I ordered three.

Monstera Orchid
Crack Hibiscus
Navy Love Shake

As for the discount, one must read carefully. It says up to 20% off. It's 10% off if you buy 4 masks, then a higher discount if you purchase more. There's a discount on some of the shirts, too. I was only interested in masks.

Back from Gelson's - got an 8 oz top sirloin steak to broil tomorrow, and I'll sauté up some mushrooms and onions with it, and then do a salad, which should all add up to under 1000 calories.  And then Wednesday, perhaps tuna sandwiches.  I ate some chips and salsa - very good.  And now, I think I'll make some Good Seasons Eyetalian dressing for tomorrow's salad.

Darn.  I am guessing it was a substitute delivery person.  Sometimes we had that problem in Ashland but never here.  I hope you get your book delivered.

I think this current problem is not a part of the arthritic joint replacement issues after all; I think it's a part of the tsuris created by the two crushed lower discs in my spine.  I think my trip up the Big Ladder on Thursday was the catalyst.  The same thing happened a couple of years ago.

Feel better vibes to DR elmore.
