I'm so mad I could spit.  I can be so damned stupid, and I think I really blew it this morning.  I got a popup about Mac updates so I installed them, and I should have done a backup first.  I've been own the phone with AppleCare for the past two hours, and I cannot get onto my computer.  The last person I spoke to wanted me to empty my computer and download my last backup from a week ago.  I did not want to do that since I will lose all my last book revisions and emails from the last week.  So we're trying a new download from my hard drive and God alone knows if this will work or not.  If worse comes to worst, I know at least one friend with a nearly current copy of the book so I can always get the copy from him.

Oh, no!

So, the AppleCare move to rebuild from the hard drive worked, and I am back online and nothing was lost.  That's a big relief.

Whew!!

I had never seen "Brian's Song." So remedying that right now. Later, perhaps, "Valley of the Dolls."

FYI...my dad was the only religious person in our family, but the people at the church asked if she would go and she didn't want to go alone, so I'm going.  I remember going a few times when the church was first built, but I haven't been back.

I expect it will be moving as the service is for your father.  It is nice they asked your mother to be there.

Thanks, Jane.

And now, I must leave.  I'm going to get something to eat, then print a couple of copies of a picture of my dad with his sisters for my sister so that she can add it to the memory board that she's making for tomorrow, then I'll be off to the church with my mom...after I go get her...and she'll probably drive.

Be back later.

What??  The ring light was delivered?  No more ring light jokes?

Until I read this I didn't know what the photo was and I couldn't enlarge it to see better.  So that is a ring light.

We.still have high-lying smoke in our atmosphere from the western fires. Though of course, nothing like what the west has been experiencing.

That's interesting.  We are still good here.  I think though that I am still dealing with the  side effects of all that smoke.  I am not complaining though as the symptoms are getting better.

Hugs to you and your family, George. It sounds like you were all well-prepared. I'm sure that makes it all easier. But it's still very sad.

Yesterday was Wae-Ling's birthday. Remember Wae-Ling -- that little girl?

She's 17.

My tuna fish sandwiches lately have been made with mashed chickpeas, a little mayo for me (mashed avocado for my daughter), celery, and onion.

Sounds weird, but it has the consistency of tuna salad.

Both chickpeas and avocado sound good.

First event was fun - just me, answering questions to about 130 Partridge Family fans.  I did that for over an hour, logged out of that one and went right to the other one, via a Zoom-like platform called Streamyard, which is every bit as inept as Zoom.  Terrible sound, freezing, jerky motion, people were disconnected and had to reconnect, clips were jerky - at least that's how it was for me watching on my iPhone.  It was fun, though.  Shirley was there for ten minutes and was VERY sweet.  Danny was funny and especially kind to me and told a funny story that there was a rumor going around during the fourth season that I was being considered to replaced David Cassidy - that seems like a really tall tale but it was really funny.  Lots of good stories and the host did a very good job of it.  But these livestream things have to figure it out better.  Maybe it's because having to have the iPhone where I do my commentary meant I was on Wi-fi rather than hard-wired, but I can't stand the lighting or the camera in the computer to do it there - I look like I'm five hundred years old.

Had the three hot dogs for food around one-thirty and they were good.  That's only 650 calories, so not sure what I'll do for another couple hundred.  We shall see.

Had a long telephonic conversation - a nice one - then went to Gelson's and got some small bites kind of foodstuffs to bring me up to 1000 calories - I think I went over by 100, but that's fine.  A tiny bit of spicy Thai pasta, one potato pancake (only 99 calories), four small egg rolls (200 calories) and it was all very good.  Now that I look at this - maybe I only went over by fifty calories, even better.

I made some tuna last night, and I’ve been intending to ask what everyone else puts in their tuna salad.

When I have it all here, my traditional things were celery, diced black olives, and diced onions (not too much, even though I love onion). Fresh ground pepper and sea salt to finish. On occasion I’ve been known to add a pinch of curry powder.

Recently, though, in lieu of all that, I’ve just mixed in some sweet relish (a sugar-free one), which I’d never done before in all of these years, and it’s delicious. I’m not sure that the relish would be compatible with those other more savory items, so I consider these to be alternatives.

What else should I be trying?

I’m a purist, just a touch of mayo and a squirt of lemon.
