This morning we chatted with Freyja who was wearing Halloween pajama's.  Just now we received a photo of her in her Halloween onesie with a hood.  I think she was a leopard.  There was also a video of her looking super cute playing with pumpkins.  This is a memorable Halloween.

So much for a ME day, a relaxing day, or futzing and finessing.  The entire day (well, I did get up very late) was spent writing the third set of liner notes, doing the credits for the first two releases, the blurbs - just endless work.  And then listening to a master to approve.  And some Kritzerland show stuff.  I'm exhausted from all the brain work and typing.  Haven't left the house.  Made bow tie pasta with red sauce, meat, and onions.  It was really great.

Finally back in Szell land but we're in a heavy Mozart section - symphonies, violin and piano concertos, and more symphonies.

There are quite a lot of them.      :)

Tonight, we watched How Green Was My Valley. Which I had never seen. Not really a Halloween pic. Loved all the choral singing.

I haven't seen How Green in decades. I watched around the same time as the Masterpiece Theater version and I remember liking both.

Well, the ushering tonight was anything but interesting. It was largely sitting or standing around and pointing out the restrooms to the few patrons who used them. It was an outdoor interactive event where people were given clues to solve a mystery. I don't know if they liked it or not, but at least they were doing something instead of watching each other.

One of the actors broke a glass goblet and shards spread everywhere. There was no one to clean it up. Steering people clear of that was the highlight of my evening.

The Shows Must Go On! schedule is strange. I just saw that Monday afternoon, they're going to start airing a tape of Simon Callow in his Being Shakespeare show. There's no place but YouTube to find out what's going on.

The Szell Mozarts I listened to the most back in the day were the Clarinet Concerto and Sinfonia Concertante. I “knew” Cleveland Orchestra principals Bob Marcellus (clarinet) and Abe Skernick (viola) in accompanying a few of their students, but I also thought those pieces, and the recordings with them soloing, were quite wonderful.

This is Argentine tango, which is not what I dance most often. But it’s beautiful.

We set up a table at the end of the driveway with lights and a jack-o-lantern. It seems every year I buy a pumpkin and Sandra has to work and doesn't have time to carve it. This year she did.

The neighborhood kids all came over to see what we were doing. Then they came back when it started to get dark. The trick-or-treating started early this year and it was done by 8 p.m.

We always have some non-food treats for kids who can't have sweets. Plus Sandra got a huge box of potato chip bags on Prime Day, and she didn't like a bunch of the flavors. She put those on the table. Most kids took a reasonable amount of candy from the bowl, a cookie, and some chips. Some of the non-food things disappeared too, I think.

It seemed to be all neighborhood kids, and we visited with some of the parents, too.

My son's family came over and we all sat outside. GS discovered the neighbors' basketball and hoop, and he tried to shoot hoops, which was hilarious, because he could throw the ball up about five feet.

I got out my folding wagon, and he and Ga-Pa pushed/pulled it up and down the street several times.

And he thought Leonard's flopping fish was hilarious.

Did a quick Gelson's run and got taco shells so instead of pasta tomorrow, I'll make the rest of the meat and onions and have two or three homegrown tacos - got a tomato, shredded lettuce and I have shredded cheddar here, and got some Gelson's salsa to put on top.

I have no news except to say that Choc Zero's Halloween candies are very good. This is the first time I've tried their white chocolate. It couldn't be better.

I don't love ChocZero's white chocolate, but I really like all their milk chocolates that I've had.

Yikes!  Not much worse than no one to clean up messes when ushering!
