We couldn’t stay at Rob and Mary Linda’s because they were at capacity with the other grandparents, an aunt, and a great grandmother.  Another set of great grandparents stayed with friends nearby.  Even though it was a 2-hour drive each way, staying with my niece worked well for us.

Oh my, I didn't realize the drive was that long.

[Jane]

I LOVE cheese enchiladas with green sauce. I had to stop eating it, though, because cheese aggravates my allergies. So these days I stick to veggie tacos without the cheese.

Aside from the delicious ones I had with DR John, I had excellent ones in Albuquerque at the restaurant in our hotel.

We had originally walked over to the, supposedly, best Mexican restaurant in town.  It my have been, however, it a quick eat place with no atmosphere.  We wanted to relax with drinks, plus I don't think they had anything vegetarian.  After a walk around town we headed back to the hotel restaurant and were pleasantly surprised.

Started watching Simon Callow’s Being Shakespeare on The Shows Must Go On/YouTube. It’s on for two days.

I'm looking forward to this one.

It really wasn’t bad, DR Jane - kind of like when we used to go to Lima and back every Sunday.

I'm on tenterhooks about this damn election.


I don't know what tenterhooks are, exactly, but I'm on 'em.

Aren't we all.

And the ads stop, and the ugly signs come down ...

I expect the ads will stop faster than it takes to remove the signs.  I hate when people don't take the signs down after the election.

[Jane]

I'm up, I'm up - seven-and-a-half hours of sleep - up at eleven and right to the bank, who, much to my chagrin JUST changed its policy about the way I cash personal checks and deposit into the business account.  Now, there's a day wait, which I'm not having.  I was on the verge of getting belligerent but it wasn't the teller's fault and she felt bad about it and said it's affecting everyone, including employees.  So, I drove to the bank on which the check was drawn in Studio City to find "branch closed" - I know they reopened three months ago, so I then had to drive back to Sherman Oaks and go to THAT branch, cash the check (no one in line, thankfully), go back to my bank and deposit.  They told me Studio City closed for some repairs to their lighting system.  So, what should have taken ten minutes took an hour and fifteen minutes.

There have been quite a lot of branch closings--BofA, Wells Fargo, US Bank. Usually no notice given, nor explanation, nor date of reopening. It's very inconvenient. I wonder if the branch managers were having a meltdown and just decided to not open that day.

A meltdown.  That would be an "interesting" reason

I'm glad you got to go, Ginny. If you are like me, you'll be nervous for the next 14 days.

I have noticed, with the numbers going up across the country, more people wearing masks just to go for walks.

[Jane]

There was a Mexican restaurant when we lived in Tiburon that was exceptional.  I don't recall what area in Mexico the owners were from.  There wasn't anything except for guacamole we would call traditional on the menu.

[Jane]

Then there was that little Restaurant on Pico Blvd that had the tacos Bruce and I loved.

A friend of mine posted that she tried to clean behind the refrigerator today, and managed to damage the electrical cord. Now it doesn't work.

What a hassle!


My takeaway from this episode is: NEVER EVER try to clean behind the fridge!

I'm home - ordered food because I didn't want to cook - and still have work to do.  Today was not good.  Tomorrow will be better.... well, maybe not.

Monday evening greetings!

I am back and can now tell you what Richard and I did over the weekend.  On Friday we drove to my niece Laura’s home in Normal, Illinois, to avoid having to stay in a hotel for the “main event” taking place Sunday in Wheaton, Illinois - Charlotte Berenice’s baptism.

It's a clip-fest of political skits that they've done this year.

Studio City closed for some repairs to their lighting system. 

Because everyone in Studio City deserves to look their best.

The baptism service, which followed strict health protocols, was at 4pm, preceded by brunch at Rob and Mary Linda’s, which also followed somewhat strict health protocols.  We drove up yesterday morning and left as soon as the service concluded.  We spent last night at Laura’s and had a smooth trip home today.

Hey Ginny, I am all for saving a couple of bucks as much as the next guy, but to drive all the way to Arizona just so Laura would put you up for the night, seems pretty extreme.

It is illegal in Washington not to remove all of your signs in a certain amount of time.  The candidate can receive a stiff fine.
